The other laptop could be running p2p applications and using all the bandwidth... any option in your router to limit its traffic for one client? | | | | | Registered Member

hello,
I'm trying to get into my "Task Manager" by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete at the same time but it gives me the following: Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator.
sO I tried to open the task manager by right clicking on the task bar at the bottom of the screen and click task manager but it didn't work cz the Task Manager click was unreachable (written in grey, i don't know the technical term of it)
What to do? i really have to get in there!
Thanks!
p.s: who do the hell is my Administrator?! this is MY freaking PC! | | | | | Registered Member

p.s: who do the hell is my Administrator?! this is MY freaking PC! | Hi,
Probably you got this through a virus or torjan, I've fixed once a computer with the same problem. First go to system32 directory in your windows directory
probably: C:\WINDOWS\system32
then look for taskmgr file, you should find 2 files with that name but different format i guess. If this is true, then let me know so I can help you more, this virus didn't affect your task manager only, it affects other windows applications as well. | | | | | Registered Member

I have a DSL connection with IDM and a wireless connection at home. There is a certain gaming server I connect to online that only allows me to sign in with a maximum of 2 users at once. After I've done my research, I found some VPN software that was really effective (Hotspot Shield, CyberGhost VPN...) and allowed me to sign in with 2 more names (total = 4).
So I basically signed with my original IDM IP and then thanks to the software was able to sign in with an extra 2 with my newly assigned American IP. At that point, both connections (the 4 names) would stay connected online.
On the other hand, I can't sign in with more than 4 anymore on one PC. What i could do is disconnect Hotspot then reconnect again and acquire a new IP. By then I would have 2 new names (total = 6). But after a while, the previous 2 would disconnect.
I have 2 other laptops at home who are connected to the same router. If I use Hotspot on them, I can sign in with 2 names.. The same goes for laptop 3. So in total: Main laptop: 2 usernames sign in on the original IP - 2 extra usernames on the new IP. 2nd Laptop: only 2 usernames on the new IP. 3rd: like laptop 2.
So in total I can sign in with 6. Now is there a way to stay connected with more than 4 on the original and 2 on the other laptops??? PS: I am not a PC expert so excuse my technical terms that might sound wrong. | | | | | Registered Member

Hi,
You should run a proxy server on ur computer, check the great "tor router", it's an open source software so it's completely free. With tor router you can always be anonymous on the net, it's very effective but found it slow some how. I hope it helps you for your gaming purposes :) | | | | | Registered Member

Thanks for the tip. But I am really not an expert. I basically just know what an amateur user knows. Can you please tell me how to exaclty use this proxy server? Where can I download proxies from? | | | | | Registered Member

I use tor router for security purposes, when i need to browse anonymously or connect to any server anonymously, so nobody can find the real source of the connection (also my ip address).
Some Tor properties from tor docs:
1. Tor only protects Internet applications that are configured to send their traffic through Tor — it doesn't magically anonymize all your traffic just because you install it. We recommend you use Firefox with the Torbutton extension.
2. Torbutton blocks browser plugins such as Java, Flash, ActiveX, RealPlayer, Quicktime, Adobe's PDF plugin, and others: they can be manipulated into revealing your IP address. For example, that means Youtube is disabled. If you really need your Youtube, you can reconfigure Torbutton to allow it; but be aware that you're opening yourself up to potential attack. Also, extensions like Google toolbar look up more information about the websites you type in: they may bypass Tor and/or broadcast sensitive information. Some people prefer using two browsers (one for Tor, one for unsafe browsing).
3. Beware of cookies: if you ever browse without Tor and a site gives you a cookie, that cookie could identify you even when you start using Tor again. Torbutton tries to handle your cookies safely.
4. Tor anonymizes the origin of your traffic, and it encrypts everything between you and the Tor network and everything inside the Tor network.
For downloading Tor: Tor: Download
