I have had the PS3 for almost a year now and i love it, with a HD TV, preferrably 1080p or even 720p the graphics are unbelievably real, i currently play Fifa 08 the most and i play it online all the time, other games i have are NBA 2k8, Call of duty 4, Gran turismo prologue, Formula one championship 07 and NFL Madden 08..

P.S: I will be in Lebanon this summer, actually im goin there next month, so im wondering, (forgive me asking) is HD TV common there now and what about playing online, is it also common?

Lebanese people have barely a tube TV for the majority of them. As for playing online, forget it as latency is too **** high. If you are into PC games, there are many LAN parties at the local "network" of the village.

Well, actually I was quite surprised to see more and more LCDs in Leb.

But regarding the latency, I think you're right, it's not very common.
I don't think it's because the Latency, but rather because of the monthly limit in upload/download... :(

What can I say about online gaming in Lebanon. Its absolutely rubish.
After going through all the hassle of purchasing Company of Heroes via Amazon and have it ship here via UPS (paying an extra $40 or so) and then try it over Terranet ADSL, I was somehow unimpressed.. The minimum latency I get is 380-400ms which is not bad for RTS games but still you always hope for better.
I wish there were LAN parties here in Lebanon. I used to organize some with a couple of my friends (around 8-10 people).
The only hope we have in gaming here is via ADSL because if people have ADSL from the same ISP then the latency can be very reasonable. For example, the latency to my cousin who is using WISE is around 60-80ms which is very good.

Online play is not absolutely rubbish in Lebanon. As i previously mentioned in another thread, I used to play on Xbox Live from my 360 some months back on a WISE 512/64 kbps connection. Things were going OK with just a slight lag bcz of the low upload speed.

I still didn't try my 1/256 mbps DSL connection since I am still searching for a new 360. But what I realized is that the latency of the WISE is somehow better than the DSL's.

So I assume that, although my connection is faster than my old one, the DSL's ping rate will be a downfall while connecting on Xbox Live. But I actually read on the net that there are certain ways where you can improve your latency.

On the other hand, I would like to know if the PS3 gamers did try to play online from Lebanon (knowing that it is free for the PS3) and what is their feedback?

I will be getting 512kbps starting next month, i'll just see how that will affect latency although I doubt bandwidth is an issue here.

not to sound like a fanboy, but im pretty that the PS3's online is inherently faster than Xbox Live because it uses dedicated servers while Xbox Live doesnt. That being said, I've known people with a 2 mbps (outside of Lebanon) who still get plenty of lag on gears of war and whatnot.
