Nvidia Released GeForce GTX 285 and GTX 295 High-end GPUs at CES

Nvidia today officially launched two new graphics solutions for the enthusiast gamer, the GeForce GTX 295 and the GeForce GTX 285. The GeForce GTX 295 features the power of two GTX 200 GPUs on a single card, and promises to deliver unrivaled graphics performance in the hottest games.

The GeForce GTX 285 delivers 30% faster performance than competing single GPU solutions, and tearing through complex DirectX 10 environments at high frame rates in HD resolutions, Nvidia claims.

Designed with Nvidia CUDA technology, both the GTX 295 and GTX 285 also deliver Graphics Plus capabilities, such as NVIDIA PhysX gaming effects, stereoscopic 3D, and fast video and image processing all accelerated by the GeForce GPU.

The GeForce GTX 295 is available now from leading add-in-card manufacturers with a MSRP of $499. GeForce GTX 285 will be available on January 15th with a MSRP of $399 USD.

NVIDIA Launches GeForce 100M Series

NVIDIA just announced three new mobile GPUs based off the 100M series, the G105M, G110M, and the GT 130M. Each GPU offers a significant performance increase over the older chipset it is replacing, with the G105M being quoted as 55% faster than the 9200M GE, the G110M being 35% faster than the 9300M GS and the GT 130M being 17% faster than the 9600M GT before it. The new 100M series with NVIDIA CUDA technology will also support number of applications that make use of the multiple processor cores for more than just 3D graphics, in areas such as game physics and accelerated video conversion.

NVIDIA provides a helpful chart to show how the new naming scheme works in comparison to the older 8 and 9-series chipsets which can be seen below:

Currently the Lenovo IdeaPad notebooks are scheduled to receive the new chips this March, with the GeForce GT 130M available inside the IdeaPad Y650, and GeForce G110M found in the IdeaPad Y550 and Y450.

Hopefully the Prices of the older cards will decrease now and new Laptop options will come

if i can afford a brand new quad gtx 295 setup then i would be rich.

if i was that rich, why the heck would i playing around with video cards instead of playing around with a quad setup of brand new playboy bunnies on my yacht??

now, that is one question that keeps bugging my mind.

but as it stands now, i have no quad gtx 295, no yacht with quad playboy bunnies, and a mind that is nagging me over nothing !!!

darn u cosmos !!!

seriously now, is anyone able to discern any difference between the newer boards and the 9800 series which you could get at a fraction of the price? even the 9600 series can chew everything i throw at it.

the sky is the limit with the amount of ram and processing power that ATI or NVIDIA can cram on one board, but they're overshooting the target.

the human eye will not discern anything that goes above 24 frames per second, and if it did so it will be with plenty of strain. most LCDs operate at a refresh rate of 60Hz, meaning the screen is refreshed 60 times per second, so while 9800s are still chewing games like far cry 2 at 40 frames per second at high quality in 1600x1200, i dont think you should be in rush. so while it is rather nice to own such a powerful card, but i fail to see the practical side, the's not much bang for the buck.

actually my Laptop uses 9600m GT and when i play crysis i only get 13-24fps (low-Medium - 1024X768) i tried to play it at high... but i only get 4-12 fps xD and i bet Ultra high will get me only 1fps lol

similar fps for GTA 4 as well

i still hope when the GTX 295 and 285 get to Lebanon.. that might reduce the prices of the current cards..

the video cards going into laptops are designed to save power, they do not even begin to compare to the performance of the desktop cards, some of the 9800, mainly the GTX OC, require 26 Amps on combined 12V voltage rails, meaning that they can consume up to 26x12Watts, that's 312W, it will drain your laptop's battery in 2 minutes.

but you're right, the only benefit from releasing the high end product is that it will drive down the price of current cards.

Do you have latest Nvidia driver ?

The desktop model of 9600GT is much faster than your 9600m GT anyway

Just look at the specs of each video card (look at the memory bandwidth, Texture, and pixel fill-rate)
