get GPU-Z

GPU-Z Video card GPU Information Utility

then give us a screeny upload so we can see the exact specs of this card.

also upload the pix of the paradoxal results of dxdiag and system information.

i don't know how much weaker ur mobile 9600m vga is from the default 9600 gt.

here is the list of default specs for video cards :

3D Chipset Specs

nvidia beta drivers are not always bad, but in ur case an nvidia whql certified driver is more apropriate since beta drivers aren't exactly famous for always supporting weird laptop geforce variants. so keep that in mind also.

according to this site, Notebookcheck: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, the specs of the 9600m on ur laptop is pretty much the same as the specs of the geforce 9500 for desktops.

so compare what u find with GPU-Z to this list. a 9500 isn't exactly super modern fast but it should run old games on super detail nonetheless and new ones on medium detail since it's almost as fast as the old and very famous powerful card the 7950GT.

me i still think u got some weird driver issue, but still, go get CPU-Z CPUID and tell us more about ur processor and memory configuration, perhaps u have something really slow there.

just tell us what u got in specific detail.

but as for C&C generals plz don't use that game as a reference for performance, it is a very very buggy old game that doesn't scale well with new hardware, especially new processors.

tell us what u find on other games performance wise.

as i said, either there is something not normal with the drivers, either ur copy of C&C is more buggy than usual or either u got a weak processor OR or processor is going to standby mode while u are playing which would explain the stuttering.

some cpus AND gpus had serious issues with power management and couldn't detect when a game was running.

for those cpus, a patch to windows fixed the problem, for those gpus with a similar issue a newer driver usually fixed the problem. that's why i am telling u that in ur laptop case getting the nvidia whql driver is a lot better than trying out the beta one.

both of them are official, but the beta is beta, it has less support than the whql stable drivers and it is a lot more buggy. and as i said b4, the default drivers of windows are useless for games.

how can i do that ???

edit : googled it

since i have 1 gb of pc 5300 (should run at 667mhz) (came free as an offer)
and 3 gb of pc 6400 (should run at 800mhz) (original memory)

the having 333 mhz for the pc-5300 and 400mhz for the pc-6400 is normal (forgot to screenshot the infos for the other slot of memory)
i cant change the frequeny , tried google and this is what i got
Quote:
my RAM is PC2-6400 which means it should run at 800MHz
As others have pointed out, it's a bit of apples and oranges.
DDR2-800 is the same thing as PC2-6400. Such RAM runs at a memory bus clock speed of 400MHz. However, being a technology (DDR2) that can transfer 2 "chunks" of data per clock cycle, its effective *data rate* is 800MHz.
Bus clock speed and effective data rate are the apples and oranges -- don't confuse them.

u got the pc 5300 running at its normal speed 333x2 = 666 (ddr2)
and the pc 6400 will run at the speed of the 5300 in ur combo case.

ur cpu seems ok for old games, and i dont see a memory problem either.

plz upload the screenies of GPU-Z and the nvidia dx8.1 thingy also

but as i said b4, in general new games will run at medium detail at best on ur rig if everything is fine. most old games should run smoothly and u can't use C&C as reference, i saw that game stutter on a xeon system with 2x quad core cpus.
