The problem with Lebanon is that there is no Economy. Our government is ridiculous. The government hires international businesses to come in Lebanon and do the infrastructure. For example, they hire Saudi companies to do some building, they hire USA to do the telephones. Why can't they hire Lebanese Companies to do those?

If the current government ever took a single business course in University they would understand. Lebanon needs money, Lebanon needs Employment, an what is a better way to increase Lebanese Economy ? WE have telecommunication companies in Lebanon who will take the "Big Government Project", not nortel or lucent or att. Those telecommunication companies in Lebanon should expand and hire another 1000 people and put them to work for the government project.

Then we will have Internet in Lebanon, and more people having jobs.

I am wondering, is it easy for anyone in Lebanon get a contract from the Government to do the extend Cypress Fiber Optic from there to Lebanon? Can any Lebanese Company take permission from Lebanon to do this? The person who invests in this, will be a millionaire easily.

Look what Carlos Slim has done to Mexico.

So my conclusion, Lebanon will never have "real" internet, when I mean "real" I mean connected directly to a carrier. We in Lebanon should have a Level 1 Data Center where we buy bandwidth from Cyprus and sell bandwidth to other countries.

That is when we will have pure Cable in Lebanon, not any shitty Satellite connection renting per month from Europe where users spread via switch to 100 people.

I wish we as in Lebanese could hold big projects in Lebanon with the governments support.
