once there is cheap bandwidth, everything will become faster, from cable to DSL not forgetting wireless and any other mean.
ur cable/wireless provider (in case u don't have DSL) will be able to get an E1 connection for something like $1000- instead of 2000+ (not quite sure about numbers)
this means everything will get a better speed.

Last time i was in Lebanon, connections speed problems used to be due to the telephone infrastructure.

So basically if we increased the internet connection speed of Lebanon, we may still have the same connection speed on DSL lines, at least in some regions.

I hope that the Telephone infrastructure has been changed and specially the backbone (between "centrales").

T1 is 1.544 MBPS (both ways) while E1 is the European version of T1 and the speed is 2mbps.

i dont care what we get as long as its better than the current pseudo DSL the blessed Marwan Hamade left us with. has anyone tried downloading, or using the internet at all for that matter, at around 11 30 at night? I have 512 kbps DSL, which doubles from 8-8, and at 11 30 pm, the download speed averages about 4-5 kb/s, on a good day. its putrid.
