Default Laptops General Discussions - 20th June 2009

I need to buy 3 new laptops for my work, and to tell you the truth I am starting to be confused. Each one tells you to avoid this or that brand.

I need a little professional opinion from y'all about really what Laptop brands I should avoid, and if you advise for a specific brand, please state the reasons why and how is the best way to purchase it (internet or shop).

Thanx for your input!

P.S. Since I hate Vista, would you advise to purchase a Laptop with windows vista on it, and then change it to XP Professional?

I have Toshiba plus Vista and they are working very fine
so ur talking about a specific case, dont generalise

All i can tell you GMA Forever is to Avoid the Acer one's, not because they are cheap, but the quality is real bad and the warranty is for only one year,,,god know what happens later

My rates:
Toshiba first
HP second
Sony Vaio third

do not buy another thing

It depends what are you going to use it for? Internet browsing and MS office? or running servers and graphic tools?

Acer and its relatives are the worst thing you can get

HP and Toshiba are fine due to their prices which are not that expensive but still not the best you can get.

Dell and Lenovo Thinkpad are among the best in the market.

Again it depends what are you going to use it for and how much are you willing to spend.

cheers

Toshiba is always the worst choice, not only when it comes with Vista

We have 2 Toshiba+Vista in the family and both have MANY problems. Am not an expert so dont know why actually, but seemingly there is something wrong with this combination.

Dont buy toshiba just because it warms really fast. Dont buy HP because the batteries are awful, I have a sony viao and I LOVE IT because its fast, it doesnt warm after 6 hours and the batterie last 2 hours each time I dont have a plug.

But my personnal preference is MAC since they are the most secure ones. Dont buy anything that is called dell or any cheap brands since they all are super slow.

I am under the impression that the Sony Vaios are the best laptop PCs.

Some people like Macs, but I don't like them out of pure personal preference. Plus, they're overpriced and I don't think many offices use Macs anyhow.

I totally agree on the red part !!! Dell and Lenovo are the best. However, if you need to choose between those two, go for Lenovo. I just got the T400, it's great !
