Default Laptop XP drivers. - 12th August 2008

Hey fellow citizens, i have recently bought a new hp laptop, model number dv9880ee.
It has vista on it, and the recovery disk is installed on the hardrive. Now the problem is that i want to format and install xp, but the recovery system only works with vista, so ive been scouring the web for xp drivers for that model.

I went to hp.com, but it seems to me that the drivers available there for this model on xp are limited. Like i dont see the rest of the drivers needed.

Just wondering if someone can lend i helping hand, would be greatly appreciated.

Zank you.

PS: the reason why i wont switch to Linux if because im mainly a gamer.

Core 2 duo 2.5ghz
4gb ram
Geforce 8600 512 dedicated

No way am i sticking with vista, it has double memory footprint. Meaning lower fps in games.

but you will be forgoing DX10
i would stick to vista if i were you, i don't know what's the native vista memory usage when a game is loaded, but with these specs, and the simple fact that you don't have an intensive gaming VGA, means that this is not a true gaming laptop, and switching to XP while forgoing DX10 is not a good move IMO

incidently can i ask about price? and where you got it from?

Bah if u take a look at the screenshots where dx10 is enabled u can hardly see any difference between those and the dx9 ones.

I tried vista on my gaming desktop, its no good, performance is way better on xp. The only downside in switching to xp is the dx10, but like i said i cant see any difference graphicly between the 2.

Yeah i know that the 8600 is a midrange solution, but sadly i couldnt afford the one with the 8800, that one is around 3600$.

Mine cost me around 2700$, originaly 2500$ but with the interest because of the loan it reaches 2700$. I got it from 460 multimedia store at ABC.

DX10 is currently pointless

XP is still the best OS for gaming

you will face the problem the day when games will no more be backward compatible with DX9, and i think it will be relatively soon enough, there isn't much difference in games that are compatible with both.
i don't know i am not much in favor with XP these days

anyway with 4gb of ram if you have a 32 bit OS it means you have 3gb ram and +1gb added to the graphic card

That day is a long ways off. Since alot of the gamers are switching to xp and dx9.0, the developers and publishers wont dare to alienate a vast portion of their customers, so as long as xp is still breathing, games will always be backwards compatible, for the sake of profit.

Um guyz how about the drivers thingy?
