Default Laptop screen broken - 8th March 2007

Dear members,

I have a serious problem with my laptop. Today, my screen is giving me tchokhbor as if the screen is broken. I connected the laptop to another screen, I can work normally. What is really this?

I took it to someone to repair it; he told me only hp do it since my laptop is hp and it will be very costly.

How much will it cost me if I took it to Lebanon for reparation? How long will it take to be repaired? Any idea?

Thanks for your answers

the price depends on the model of the laptop and screen size.

what you need to do is get a screen from outside Lebanon mainly US for a cheap price and send it to HP service center is Lebanon and they will replace it for you.

you can contact HP service center in Lebanon:

Computer Information Systems (CIS) - + 961 4410 410
MIDWARE DATA SYSTEMS - +961 1-582000 Ext. 434 ( Same as 460 Multimedia Mega Store)
Teletrade Computer Systems - 961 1 871690 / 961 3 796879

buy another laptop, it will cost you 200$ more and you will get a better faster, more memory laptop. Don't waste your time reparing, plus you can still use the old one by remote access using the new one, or buying a screen to it and using it as a desktop.
I had already passed by the same experience

Well, if it's HP then it should have come with a basic limited warranty. Short of having dropped it or thrown water on it, HP should replace it to you for free (providing your warranty hasn't expired). Just dial the 1-800 number on the back of your laptop, and give them your serial number (also written on your computer) and they will walk you through what you need.

I assume you are in France, and I don't know what the number is over there, I am assuming it is the same process.

My laptop's screen broke. I've got a Tecra A4, it's going to cost me 500 dollars to fix in the US. I certainly hope it's cheaper in Lebanon.

The same thing happened to my laptop, I tried to connect it to an external monitor, but even it was still not fine.. so it was a VGA card problem, not the LCD monitor. I had to replace the whole motherboard in order to fix it.

For your laptop, it is the LCD, you should change it and it costs too much. So, as Danny said, getting a new laptop is the best solution. Check the price of a new LCD, compare it with the price of a new laptop and decide.

last year my laptop broke and the price of fixing was almost double what a lap top cost now. Just buy a new on i think you can even find some cheaper than 500 dollars these days.
