Is anyone into home automation projects or at least interested in those?
If you have done some home automation projects, what technologies did you use? Do you have any success stories?

I've done during my undergraduate separate basic projects to be added to a home automation system, like turning on lights when someone is in the room, or clapping, some basic electronic circuits including microcontroller programming, connecting sensors to the computer acting as a mainframe...

The postgraduate degree i am currently working on is related somehow, I've worked a lot on biometrics (speaker/speech recognition, face recognition, mainly any signal either image/video or audio) but on a research level, never gone into actually applying it outside computer simulations.

I find it interesting even though I have no experience in it.

What do you want to automate at home? you can start by automating your alarm clock and end up with automating opening the roof when the sun shines with a UV index of 8, so precise what you want to do so we can give you solutions.
