GPS in Lebanon

does anyone have an idea if there's GPS maps for Lebanon? as far as i know, there isn't.

Has anyone actually tried to find maps or searched for GPS devices in Lebanon?

There are maps, however, they take ages to download and they are not accurate.

This is all I have:

Price of installing Lebanon maps on a GPS-enabled phone: $83 (It is a one time fee, not a monthly fee)

Phones that need to be used: Any Symbian device (Most Nokia phones can be used as well as PDA's)

Where does it work? It covers ALL Lebanese cities and streets. It shows you the fastest route from your current location to your destination. It also shows you all restaurants, hotels, and landmarks to make your search for the destination much easier.

Does it work in all the Middle East? Not yet, but they're working on it and it should be ready in 2 months. If you install the Lebanon GPS Maps, you only need to upgrade it later for it to work in ALL the Middle East.

I also heard that there are GPS car units with Lebanon Maps installed in them also available, the cost is between $500 and $1000. I have no further details, I think I read or heard it somewhere.

Thanks Mich, i have found some, as you mentionned so far, NOT accurate at all.

hmmmmm, would it be street names or numbering the units/houses the main problem that we have in creating decent maps?

Yeah from what I heard, these maps rely on points of interest and show you how to get there... I highly doubt they relied on street names or numbers lol... It is more like you wanna go to a bank in beirut for example, the gps unit wud lock in your position and trace the shortest route to your destination... the bank would be found as a place of interest rather than an address.
