Yeah, second year computer science.
And you, what are your plans?
Haha sweet , I already graduated in CS but I work in a field which is away from development. I just wish I could go back and take a track in game development. I advise you to start learning C++ professionally and dive into some 2d/3d programming such as opengl.

Check the following link:
GameDev
GameTutorials
You can find tutorials related to opengl/directx..etc

Also there are many good ebooks which can help you start with 3d programming.
I advise you to start with 2d graphics.

Wow, I love this thread. I plan on starting my own games development and CGI movies company in the next 5 years. I'm dead serious about this, as it had been a long dream of mine. Start PMing me your cv's :P

I hope Orange Patriot sees this thread, as he's working on a very nice project only he can explain.

You guys are awesome
I am completely amazed by the sheer interest of people in this field but unfortunately there exists no game development related major here in the area.
I already started getting into the game development by studying it during my spare time.

Well I worked previously on some game as an Animator, so I just did the Graphics and left the programming for others..Don't know if it was even completed or not.
However I have friends who can manage to make some pretty descent games, I have someone who did a Traffic Simulator with cars and whatever that simulates how the cars and traffic will interact in a real city and I know someone who created a Virtual Battle Simulation for the Iranian army and is currently working on a "City generator" software (Don't ask, I don't think he can finish somthing this huge alone).

Game development is usually for hack artists and low-level programmers.

Basically a rejects' bin, evidenced by the slave wages that even big-name companies pay their employees.

If you want to get into game development, it is not hard. Not that many people want to do it once they find out how much it pays and what work you have to do. Just get a degree in electrical engineering or computer science engineering and you'll be good to go.
