Default Cosmos, Multiverse and things beyond your imagination - 2 Weeks Ago

I've been fascinated with the cosmos, Space and Time, the 4th dimension, string theory, the 11th dimension and some other freaky ideas for a while now.. Definitely ideas that makes you think, wonder and dream.

What are we? Where did we come from? Are we alone? What's up there? Whats the 4th dimension? What causes gravity? An infinite universe with with no boundaries!? Multiverse, what the heck!? String theory anyone? The theory of everything?

Let's discuss all that!!

-----

For now, watch this great interview about the idea of Multiverse.. and let loose your thoughts!

Great thread.....fascinating topic:)

I don't have the chance to watch video now but will do later...

As for your question, simply we don't know but we keep searching/researching and discovering...and I think it is important for all this to have an open and scientific mind.

Every theory might be true until you disproove it:) The theory of everything..hmmm sounds glamouros like a period or an exclamation, but I like it with a question mark in the end:D

So how do I imagine the 4th dimension and above with my 3 dimensional mind? Is that possible?

I once had a course where we had to classify a 15th dimensional vectors, it makes you go crazy working in an abstract where there's no way to imagine it!! if you are interested in such topic, get the following series:

- stargate sg1 (10 seasons)
- stargate atlantis (5 seasons)
- stargate universe (started few weeks ago)

I always wondered it is even hard to imagine with our 3 dimensional brain the higher dimensions, but to illustrate it in 2 or 3 diemnsions??

If someone hasn't yet, I recommend to read the classical good old Einstein, Einstein was right: space and time bend | Science | The Observer

and further something interesting from grandmaster Hawkings: Naked Science | Hawking's Universe | National Geographic Channel

The more we advance scientifically, the more we know how negligible we are in this universe, or should I say, multiverse..
It was thought that earth is the center of the universe, then Kepler came up with his laws of planetary orbit. Later on, galaxies were discovered.. endless galaxies! I mean, just try to imagine!

I imagine the whole idea as a zoom-out scene that begins with us humans and goes higher and higher.. passing from earth atmosphere, to our nearby planets, to a collection of 8 planets, beautifully orbiting that massive star in the middle called the sun. It then goes higher, showing billions of stars and star systems orbiting a huge super-massive black hole.. that's the Milky Way.. Zooming out more, hundreds then thousands of galaxies appear, randomly scattered left and right.. that's our universe.. that's indeed beautifully scary!

I am currently reading The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory by Brian Greene.

It was supposed to be simple and easy to follow, but man.. it's a little hard to imagine these freaky stuff they are talking about!

I will make sure to get the book you suggested. yalla, next order from amazon!
