Buying a New Laptop: your advice? - 10th October 2005

Guys,

U want to get a laptop.. I need your advice here.
I want to pay around 1500 USD.

I heard about many different brands:

Acer: I read bad reviews about this one.

Fujitsu-siemens: excellent specifications with a good cheap price. Is this brand good ?? Anyone using it ??

Sony Vaio and Toshiba: Very good, but so expensive.

Compaq-HP and DELL: what do you think?

Thanks a lot !

My advise, no DELL!!
you will enjoy it for a year and then the problems start
when it comes to price to quality, I think HP is good.

Hey Stan, not sure why you had bad experiences with Dells...they are good!

HP is ok, IBM is going to China, Stay away from SONY...

Fujitsu can go both ways, not sure about Hitachi. Remember, buy something you can get support drivers through their web site like Dell.

Man they tend to heat really fast. My friend left his laptop once overnight on the chair to find out the next day that the chair melted.

I leave my laptop on for like really long times. For example, it's been running now for 3 consecutive days. It's Toshiba btw, and it's excellent.

I am like Diablo7...Dell all the way. never had a probloem with overheating...Anyway, you should always use the power management function to avoid running your PC into the ground...

Both Lattitude and Inspiron Dell lap tops are excellent. I hardly ever have a problem with my Lattitude, and if I do it is usually "user error"...:)

My kids have an Inspiron they play with...and belive me they abuse it...:)
