What about the new i7 processors from Intel? Should that be a priority for a gaming machine?
Even though recent games do not take advantage of the capabilties of the I7, you will have, if you opt upgrading, a new architecture that supports 12 gigs of ram, hugely increased performance in later game titles, which will take full advantage of the i7, increased performance overall. Some tests indicated that the I7 leaped 40% in performance gains as opposed to its present generation counter part.

In conclusion, it should be a priority for a gaming machine, because in the end it will eventually drastically increase fps.

Well i got my pc for a nice price and it's pretty enough for me, of course it's not the best but i don't imagine anyone would need more even thought i don't use it for games.
fast description without details.

3.0ghz core 2 duo, 4gb ram (2gb x 2 + 2 free ram slots), 500 HDD, 1gb VGA GeForce dual 19" monitors for around 1400$, i got it like 6 months ago and doing more than great.

I play games once a month or 2. it never say no or wait :D
