Icon10 Best PC money can buy - 24th December 2008

ok dudes, this is a geeky topic but someone has got to ask it.

right now, for this special xmas, if u were uber rich, what is the best pc specs for gaming can u buy if u stay clear of getting xeon cpus and their mobos. also let's not focus alot of overlcocking the hardware for now.

i'm kinda tending to dream about these for now:

Core i7 940
X58 mobo
8gb dd3
ati 4870 X2 crossfired
SSD drives in raid?
big freaking LCD screen.

My 1 year old daughter destroyed my 3 year old laptop yesterday. I was planning on buying a new (gamer's) computer anyway, but not this soon. Good thing I had backed up everything to my external HD a couple of days ago.

So this thread will certainly be interesting to follow up on. What is the best computer money can buy? And at what cost?

Says any gamer. If PC gaming is on the brink of death, MAC gaming never existed to begin with. All they got was a few PC games that came out after the PC release.

I'm sorry, but Macs are for graphic designers, latte-drinkers, and girls.

hmm Best Pc money can buy heh?

CPU: i965 Extreme Processer
RAM:8 or 16GB RAM @ DDR3 1333Mhz (even if u get 32GB RAM, i don't think you will be able to Benefit THAT MUCH from it)
GPU: Now the 4870X2 is strong.. but if you something Top Notch i'd suggest you wait till the Nvidia GTX 295 Card is released.. now imagine if one of that can beat the 4870X2, imagine what 4 GTX295 Cards in Quad-Sli Mode can do (that is if money is not a Problem)

Hard Drive:
don't know what Raid in HDs is.. but whatever is better i guess :P

that's all i can say for now..

3gb is the limit for applications on winxp 32 bit.

the global limit for 32 bit windows is 4 gb, but in windows xp this 4gb global limit is slip between 3 gb for all applications, and 1 gb left for the Operating system.

applications can't use all the 4gb if u have them. vista 32bit has the same global limit of 4gb, but i don't know if it splits it 3gb/1gb too.

with 64 bit windows xp/vista, the 4gb global limit doesn't exist altogether.
