The minute I heard the news, I was utterly shocked!!! I could not get myself to write something in this thread until now...
I remeber seeing him film the birth of his son... poor guy... he was full of life, love, and so much energy!!!
I used to see his shows, and watch him as he got hosted by late night shows. I also saw him once on Oprah... He just was sooo active and committed to his cause!!! He taught his daughter how to handle snakes though she is still a very little girl... He adored animals and that's why I adored him...
May he rest in peace, and may his family pass through this hard time and be okay... | | | | | Registered Member

Im shocked dont know what to say ... I used to watch his shows all the time ..Poor guy !
1992, Irwin married Terri Raines from Eugene, Oregon, United States. The pair had met a few months earlier when Raines had visited the zoo on a holiday. Together they had two children: a daughter, Bindi Sue Irwin (born 24 July 1998), and a son, Robert Clarence "Bob" Irwin (born 1 December 2003). Bindi Sue is jointly named after two of Steve Irwin's favourite animals: Bindi, a saltwater crocodile, and Sue, a dog who died in June 2004.
Irwin was as enthusiastic about his family as he was about his work. He once described his daughter Bindi as "the reason he was put on the Earth". His wife once said, "The only thing that could ever keep him away from the animals he loves are the people he loves even more."

10 stingrays killed since Irwin's death
At least 10 stingrays have been killed since "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin was fatally injured by one of the fish, an official said Tuesday, prompting a spokesman for the late TV star's animal charity to urge people not take revenge on the animals.
Irwin died last week after a stingray barb pierced his chest as he recorded a show off the Great Barrier Reef.
Stingray bodies since have been discovered on two beaches in Queensland state on Australia's eastern coast. Two were discovered Tuesday with their tails lopped off, state fisheries department official Wayne Sumpton said.
Sumpton said fishermen who inadvertently catch the diamond-shaped rays sometimes cut off their tails to avoid being stung, but the practice was uncommon. Stingrays often are caught in fishing nets by mistake and should be returned to the sea, Sumpton said.
Michael Hornby, the executive director of Irwin's Wildlife Warriors conservation group, said he was concerned the rays were being hunted and killed in retaliation for Irwin's death.
"It may be some sort of retribution, or it may be fear from certain individuals, or it just may be yet another callous act toward wildlife," he said.
He said killing stingrays was "not what Steve was about."
"We are disgusted and disappointed that people would take this sort of action to hurt wildlife," he said.
Stingrays are usually shy, unobtrusive fish that rummage the sea bottom for food or burrow into the sand.
They have a serrated spine up to 10 inches long on their tails, which they can lash when stepped on or otherwise frightened.
The spines emit toxins that can kill many small creatures and cause excruciating pain in humans. Few people have died from the poison, but the spines can badly tear flesh and the wounds are prone to infections, including tetanus.
Hornby said people should treat stingrays with caution, but "there is still no need to ... kill or mutilate these important animals." | | | | | Registered Member

Well, it is strange how it killed him.
First a Stingray is not necessarily Fatal, actually, in most cases, it might cause injuries, maybe some severe ones, but it doesnt kill.
And in Australia, ONLY 3-4 incidents of sting rays deaths have been reported.
I mean, it is something odd. Not really what someone can understand.
But his death is making more people do the same job of his.
But these people are not experts , nor professional. They are newbies. This is wrong, and it should be followed.
I heard an Australian famous person (dont know her name) say that Irwin's death is something expected since he is a crazy man, etc ...
She started attacking Irwin RIP in a way, and his job. The interviewer told her that what she said will make Australians angry. She replied, I dont care. So here he want mad and told her : you dont care about what Australians think ??? Do you agree to be not accepted by your country?? etc ..and so on ..lol | | | | | Registered Member

Fans snap up tickets to Irwin memorial
Some 3,000 grieving fans, hundreds of whom camped on the street overnight, were rewarded Friday with tickets to next week's public memorial service for "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin.
The free tickets were distributed at three locations across Irwin's home state of Queensland, and were snapped up within about 15 minutes.
Melissa Power, a 34-year-old beautician, was at the front of the line in the state capital, Brisbane, and had tears in her eyes when she finally got her ticket.
"It's unbelievable," she said. "I haven't slept and am so overemotional — I'm looking so forward to it."
Thousands lined up for tickets outside Irwin's Australia Zoo. Some burst into tears after the tickets ran out.
The public service for Irwin will be held Wednesday at the "Crocoseum" amphitheater on the grounds of the Australia Zoo, and will be a "celebration of his life, not a sad funeral," his father, Bob, told reporters last week.
Irwin was killed Sept. 4 when he was pierced in the chest by a stingray's barb while filming a new TV show off Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
His death prompted an outpouring of grief around the world and in Queensland, where tens of thousands of fans turned out to lay flowers, candles and messages of support outside Australia Zoo.
Although larger venues for the public event had been suggested, Irwin's American-born wife, Terri, said her husband would have wanted the service held at the Crocoseum.
Terri Irwin and the couple's 8-year-old daughter, Bindi, are to speak at the service, along with Bob Irwin and his close friend and manager, John Stainton, the family said. | | | | | | |
