Kimaera - Ebony veiled
it's a lebanese symphonic gothic melodic death/doom ... metal band, it totally surprised me, i found out about it while googling for something so i got their album, very professional, and the songs are even better than what i expected
there's samples on their website.

I have mixed feelings about Maiden's newest album.

The optimist in me is glad to see that Maiden have matured both in terms of music and lyrics, tackling subjects of holy wars, effect of wars on the human psyche, etc. It's not like i was expecting 60 year old people singing about having dinner with satan.

The NWOBHM/Maiden fan in me wonders why didn't the whole album sound like The Pilgrim and Different World. Where has all the catchiness gone ? Where are "Afraid To Shoot Strangers" 's melodies, "Hallowed be thy name" 's harmonies, and "Phantom of the Opera" 's energy ? The complex song-structure and maturity in music seem to have been made at the expense of the catchiness and the vintage maiden sound.

Nevertheless, i'm convinced that Maiden pulled out a solid album. The Pilgrim and Different World are instant Maiden classics.

Cheers.

Here's a live video for Bruce Dickinson ( maiden's vocalist ) performing Chemical Wedding.

Default Maiden Live Feedback - 12th October 2006

Maiden's concert was decent. But they turned a lot of us off by playing their new album, in full, and in the same order as the cd. That was quite dull to be honest.
They however played some old stuff that got people going, fear of the dark & iron maiden were amazing as usual.
And as usual, maiden brought something crazy on stage, this time they had a tank rise up on stage as well as a 20+ foot soldier walking around.

And yes, Bruce Dickinson is still livelier than a monkey who'd just found banana island.

Freeform Five are a four-piece dance collective based in London. They consist of producer, multi-instrumentalist and chief song-writer Anu Pillai, as well as vocalists Tamara Barnett-Herrin, Cabba and Nick Decosemo. They are known both for their remixes of other people's work as well as producing their own original work. Artists the Freeform Five have collaborated with include Mylo, Felix da Housecat, Annie and X-Press 2.

===============================================

Mylo, real name Myles MacInnes (born 1978 in Skye), is a Scottish electronic musician.

A 1999 graduate of philosophy, psychology & physiology at Brasenose College, Oxford, Mylo quit studying for a philosophy Ph.D at UCLA to return home and produce music.

He released his debut album, Destroy Rock & Roll in 2004, on the Breastfed Recordings label, which he co-owns. Mylo produced the album in his own bedroom, on an Apple Macintosh G4.

He has provided remixes for the likes of Scissor Sisters ("Mary") and The Killers ("Somebody Told Me"). One of his notable works is a remix of Kylie Minogue's #2 UK hit "I Believe in You" in 2004 which appeared on the single.

His biggest chart success to date came in autumn 2005, when the single Dr Pressure, a mash-up of his own song Drop The Pressure and Miami Sound Machine's Dr Beat (originally created by mashup artists Phil n' Dog before being released by Mylo), peaked at No.3 in the UK singles chart, following previous top 20 hits he had had such as Drop the Pressure (No.19), Destroy Rock & Roll (No.15) and In My Arms (No.13) during late 2004 and 2005.

He has also contributed an exclusive song, 'Mars Needs Women', to the War Child compilation album 'Help: A Day In The Life', released in September 2005. In 2006, the track "Otto's Journey" was used in a television commercial for Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing, which featured Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan at home improvising a salad out of green beans, blackberries, and potatoes.

Sorry, not much of a metal person here, more to the hard house/dance/trance side.

I ran into a live remix at a huge rave in Israel's Negev desert (no I didn't go, I found it on the web). It was Fairuz' Hkili Hkili aan Baladi (well a line out of it) remixed into this amazing trance for this rave. Despite the fact Fairuz virtually sings for the end of Israel, it's good to see their DJs are still inspired by her music. hehe

If you're interested in the link, let me know, I'll try find it again.

I think it's on You Tube.
