A question that may arouse some points of view, and I hope X would allow this thread to procede.
Recently OTV held a concert in Copenhagen, Denmark. OTV (Oath To Vanish) a Lebanese heavy-metal or death-metal if you wished. They were alright, but the real question here, why should their music be band in their own land, and they are forced to operate underground ? While other ridiculous types of music???, beside the regular and overly filling the market horrible sounds, that are found in Lebanon, are just flourishing... I could name a few but some would still find it insultive if I did.
Trust me, you would rather listen to a donkey in heat than to hear them screech and do a lot worse of a damage to your ear drums with their voices.
Now back to the subject, I have seen an Avitar to one of the members of this forum, it represents the heavy metal band "Metallica", so I am sure he must be a fan, and would probably agree with my answer to my own question. "Music does no damage, music only enhances your feelings".
If you were in love then the music of, say maybe Celine Dione or Lionel Richie or maybe even Om Kalthoom or my favourite Nancy Ajram' music would make you feel better and more in love. So it depends totally on your state of mind.
I will keep this post short, so that is all I have to say for now.
Thanx to "X" and the mods if this thread had gone passed Go. I would appreciate your comments and I will be logging in from time to time to check out your posts. | | | | | Registered Member

About Oath to Vanquish band, if one of your grand parents hears a song for them, what will be the 1st reply?
SATAN HIMSELF TALKING, what the hell is this voice? is this music? those are satanic non-beleivers etc...
While the death music plays, no one understands the lyrics... In Lebanon, i've heard most of the rock/metal bands... and I couldn't find any band spreading satanical lyrics or anti-christian ones...
We have taltented musicians in Lebanon, instead of wasting their time on satanic lyrics, they write philosophical ones and mostly: Patriotic ones...
Why is it banned?
Long hair, black clothes, loud music (unusual if you're comparing it to ya tab tab) -> get a life... (lebanon)
why some international satanic bands are not banned in lebanon?
1) Mp3s tehrib mostly from russia
2) Virgin megastore deals with the bands allows Virgin to sell whenever/wherever
3) Bad Lebanese bands management Quote: |

| That was me
I agree "Music does no damage, music only enhances your feelings".
very true, music is a whole song + melodies + lyrics + synchronization etc...
when the lyrics are good, and the melody's good, there's an enhencement, but when the music sucks and the lyrics are bad it becomes noisy.
now, who needs some free Metal courses? so after all, music does not damage as long as you're not letting it control you
if you're talking about metallica's music, let it control you, you'll feel better | | | | | Registered Member

#Music is an art... art is an expression... expression sometimes does not suit certain people's tastes and they tend to take it as a direct challenge against them, so they try to suppress this form of expression by criticizing it or even going to the extreme of banning it! This is absurdity in its ugliest forms...
#Our problem is tolerence... we cannot tolerate anything that is different! We want the entire world to be in accordance with our state of mind and taste...
#Music expresses... a state of mind, of soul, of intellect... It is an idea! Born out of a feeling... born out of an experiment...
#I write poetry. I paint. That is how I express. Others compose... that's their form of expression...
#I wrote a poem saying that suicide is ok... nobody disagreed. Nobody told me that it is not ok to write a poem about suicide being ok and acceptable...
#If I compose some music to go with the words of my poem and this music is offensive to some ears (Metal Music or Hard Rock) then people will fight me...
#If I compose some soft music to go with my poem, then people might actually think that my song is touching... they might even cry...
#People's problem is with the tone... the particular category of music... the combination of sounds...
#I myself cannot tolerate Um Kulthum much... she plays on my nerves though I love the words of her songs a lot... bas bittalli3li dini before she is done with her part!!!! She belongs to a different era when people had 30 minutes to spare on listening to a song!!!! I do not!!!! However, I tolerate Um Kulthum and I respect all her admirers and fans... I try to understand their point-of-view, and I never argue with them... maybe someday I'll learn how to appreciate her, but at least I am smart enough to know that what I do not like or appreciate is due to the fact that it does not fit my category of likes and dislikes, and not because it is bad or ugly....
#So, in my opinion, no music is ugly... no music is offensive...No music is damaging, and no music should be banned... music is there, just pick and chose what you want to listen to, and leave others to pick for themselves...

music does no damage... it all depends on your mood. If you feel like suiciding already, listening to a song would not be the main cause of your suicide! I like Some songs for GNR and when I'm in the mood for them, I listen to their cds.. but when I'm not, I go for other bands or singers such as lara fabian or other oldies | | | | | Registered Member

I must say,
VERY nice replies, and I do appreicate your inputs. Nevertheless I should first say to Jules3 that I am sorry for your hearing problem, but Rami you have to listen to all of Metallicas lyrics before you try and judge Oath To Vabquish, and thanks for the correction, I called them Oath To Vanish for a personal reason, and that is not becuase I do not like their music, I said they were OK but not good enough for my taste, I do however like a lot of lyrics and music by Metallica and to go for the heavier side Cyclopes ( and I hope I spelled it right this time), or other heavy bands like AC-DC, Creed, Stained and a few others.
I consider myself open to all types of music, but the issue here is that we should not ban music or in other words "art" if one prefers, and as AbirWard has elaborated on it perfectly. I am afraid that he took the words out of my mouth, excellent reply by the way AbirWard, my hat is off and a bow.
You are absolutely right Caramel, it all depends on your mood and your state of mind.
We do have to be tolerant and try to work with a problem, if it is a problem, and try to implement it as a factor in an equation to resolve it, and not a blunt hindrence.
I hope that we would one day reach the fairness in all of us and learn from others instead of blockading every little thing that we can not confirm.
Thanx to all those who replied and until the next log in.
May all have a nice day. | | | | | Registered Member

However, I just wanted to let you know that I am a "SHE" and not a "HE." I am not offended by this mistake, but I just wanted to point out that fact to you.
Thanks again for your reply! | | | | | Registered Member
