Default Do you remember The Dukes of Hazzard - 1st October 2006

I don't know how many of you would remember the tv series of The Dukes of Hazzard or even the movie that was released in 2005 starring Jessica Simpson.

Basically the show is about cousins who always running away from the law but drive an orange car called the 'general lee'. Anyways, I watching that movie tonight and as silly as this sounds, my friends and I were making the connection with General Aoun. You see the car is called General, it's orange and no matter what happened to the car, it always landed on it's 4 wheels...

do you see any similarities?

That's funny. I saw the movie last night on Cinemax!

Anyway, there's a humungous difference between General Lee and General Aoun: one wanted to separate from the United States and keep slavery, the other is fighting to keep a united Lebanon and free the Lebanese from slavery!

I really really liked the movie starring Jessica Simpson! It is one of my favorite comedies in fact and I think it was so well directed, and surpasses the T.V. series with its originality!

I do like the orange car though! And I like how you spotted the similarities! Keen eye!!! Good one Cheeckie!

i know this sounds silly.. but for the sake of discussion...

General Lee fought for the freedom of Virginians to decide how to live..
Lee was an officer in the US army before the war started.. a graduate of West Point and at the beginning of the war, he had no slaves in his estate Arlington.

Lee was a brilliant general and was able to threaten Washington DC itself on 2 occasions and was able to keep the northern armies at check despite the discrepancy in weapons and numbers...

he didn't believe in the war, but believed in the virginians to decide whether they want to secede or not.

by the way, do u call it civil war ? or war of aggression of the north?

**** Them Yankees!

I agree! The civil war was not to free the slaves but rather to create new consumption ground.

As for the comparison, I am starting to see more and more links between the two generals...

Very well put Kappa! Who would have though that there are so many similarities between the two!
