It's a pity that the best music composers are in the past, Danny Elfman is possibly one of the very few great composers of our day... Of course, not all his music is up to his high potential, for the simple reason that he works with Hollywood... But he has shown his best work in the movies that he takes personal: his duo with Tim Burton.
Wendy Carlos is maybe only known for her part in Clockwork Orange, but all her music is amazing. It is rather sad that she didn't have much opportunities in other movies. She is one of the earliest people to use the Moog on a very sophisticated level, and even reworking classical music on the earliest Moogs, she was in close friendship with the great Robert Moog himself.
György Ligeti is master of his domain, and I am sure that he even was a great influence on Wendy Carlos herself. He is one the earliest avant-guarde pioneers in experimental music. Ligeti even formulated a whole new score writing system for experimental music that relies heavily on sound and not notes. (Sample:

Mátyás Seiber didn't work much on movies, but what he did for Animal Farm is simply amazing. He has been a Hungarian in exile during Hungary's Rákosi's Stalinist regime. And his contribution was basically in that political direction, the movie has a twist from the original writing to serve as a good propaganda for the CIA.. but nonetheless, artistically it is great.
