Well nowadays, u can find Tiamat, Lake of Tears, Fall Of the Leafe, Autumnblaze, Crematory, Opeth, and such in lebanon ...

as long as the music is not antichristian ( old Tiamat, Deicide, Vital Remains, Behemoth, Impaled Nazarene, etc... ) , it can be found here .

Nowadays i am listening to Dream Theater or Stratovarius most of the time.
Also, i listen from time to another to some other bands such as Queensryche, Pink Floyd, Yngwie Malmsteen , System of a Down , Pantera,Yes,Deep Purple....and many others

I love metal.

Its a shame most people limit it to one or two known bands and never really delve into it.

And its a shame most people are deceived as to what bands are metal, or at least present the full scope of metal.

SOAD, the nineties metallica, soulfly, all thats fine and all, but thats not what metal is or is about.

My favourite band is Savatage personnally, which is decently known in lebanon. I think this is one band everyone can like, since they have such a varied and talented range in their music. truely amazing. Still my top band.

Others worth noting: Testament, saviour machine, morgana lefay, virgin steele, atheist, tad morose, exodus, metal church, sword (listing bands from my current car CD lol).

Theres really a ton of stuff, zillions of bands.

And the good stuff is usually a bit hard to find, which makes it all the more of an amazing genre to discover.

Sweden's Lake of Tears have been confirmed to play at "Middle East Rock Bash - Battle for the Crown" on Saturday, July 8 in Beirut - Lebanon. Fans of the former doom metallers / now prog rockers will finally get to watch something of Wacken caliber in lebanon, instead of having Alanis Morissette, Placebo, and the Supertramp senile thrown at them. The news have already been announced at the band's official website , so no bogus on this one. Wooooooooooooo !

GeneralDave,

you should check the lastest G3: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and John Petrucci. I didn't watch it -yet- ... mainly because i hate Petrucci's guts, but that kind of gigs would be just the thing you might look for.

rocka rolla' !

No **** ? Wow ... these guys have fans! I kinda know this band's keyboardist, and let me assure you that as much as the music sounds grandiose, pompous, 'biblical', and pretentious ... the guys just do it for fun, although Eric (vox) probably takes it kinda seriously. It's quite a shame that these guys triple-job to earn their living, while bands like Drowning Pool, Adema, and Avenged Sevenfold are buying private jets.

I'd have to admit though that some SM songs are a bit too draggy, i mean you have great songs like The ***** of Babylon .. and then again you're hammered with some 12 minute boring song which you can't even remember the name. Each of their overlengthy albums can be compressed into 45 minutes of inspired music, but other than that .. hands down for Saviour Machine.

I get what you mean, that mostly is true for the Legend I,II and III concept albums.

I found their first 2, SMI and SMII, specially the second, great complete albums that you can enjoy.

Im more leaning towards songs than albums, so i do agree about the Legend albums.

Eric Clayton is in my top 3 vocalists of all times :)
