Don't begin and tell me, mfakra hala class bedda tsamiyoun as foreigners... I adore arabic names as Karim, Samer, Ziad... But when I will come to choose the name I would do it with adapting with Europeans and Americans because believe me a discrimination is done directly if the name is pure Arabic... I know one thing If my children wanna live abroad, I will never give them a weird arabic name, enno haram koun sabab ez3aj la ebné or benté bi sabab esmoun...

Alla ykhalilik yehon la your 2 kids!
about naming after the father name, it's all a matter of discussion, let's say you agreed that you'll name the girl and he'll name the boy, and his father has a nice name, i dont see a problem with that, akid as long as the name doesnt go back shi 3 centuries la wara ! i care that my kid's names will be nice and meaningful.

i am not against this tradition on the contrary it is nice to some extent .. but somtimes the name of the father is sooo oldfashion men 3omr el khebez and i simply feel sorry for the baby to have such an old name ! and i am not against arab or lebanese names no but come onnnn there is names that are realy "perime" expired ! why should a child bear with this for the rest of his life ! ? i find it unfaire ... plus they give the baby this old name and then start to call him with a nice diminutif like zouzou or bicho or sisso ... ouff once i discovered that the real name of an owner of a shop was dakhlallla and all the years evry one use to cal him steeve i was chou jeb toz la marhaba !! and when i asked the guy ouff chou jeib steeve la dakhlalla he said i hate my name but its my grand father name so i start calling my self steeve since i was a little boy !

wich one is toz?
That's nice getting to name yourself!

and I want to add something to my previous post, if you remember I didn't choose any name I just set standars and here is another one, the name should be able to go with any social position, uno personnaly and ma3 kel i7tirameh to the people that have this name, bass for example I don't feel that president directeur general and Joey go together.

I need your advice, my father’s name is Abdo, my name is Abdo, do you think I should call my son Abdo?

P.S: I think “Suzanne” is great for a girl.

this reminds me of a funny similar story!
my aunty's husband name is "abdel razak", he was called so after his father's best friend name
akid my aunt had a son who decided now that he wants to name his kid after his father's name! so imagine a little beautiful blond baby with the most beautiful colored eyes called "abdel razak"! eno come on! so they call him "boudi" but the whole idea looks weird to me! walla 7aram!
