Icon5 Wedding Preps! - 4th January 2008

Here's something that hasn't been discussed before.... for all of you married people out there.....and/or people who know...

I might be getting married in August... that is still pending some techicalities which might push it few months to early 2009.

I'm worried about expenses of the wedding itself and would like your opinions about how much does a wedding cost given that we will be inviting 300 to 350 people...

How much do things with the wedding cost?

- cost/person
- zaffeh
- flowers
- food
- dj/singer

other things I'm missing??

Cost per person can vary between 15 dollars and up depending on the restaurant ...
flowers around 700 dollars
zaffeh 500 dollars and up
food if you mean home deyafeh around 700 with chocolate drage and beklawa plus the hostess i guess they charge like 200 dollars
so as my daughter got married recently and i helped so i have an idea about the cost but its always depends on you how much you wanna spend..mabrouk salf

mabrouk

first thing to do is to coordinate the time between the church and the restaurant.

churches take from 200$ to 1000$ to 1500$ in DT.
restaurant from 25 to 45$ per person for lebanese food.
Dj about 200$.
lighting about 1500$.
flowers can go up to 4000$ but you can get something very nice for 2000$ (don't go to big names as they charge you for the name).
photo video, about 2000$.
make up , hair, and dress for the bride, depends on the shop.
cars, zaffe, hostess are not to be missed.

Thanks guys..... just for the record Ana = Me and is not intended to be a female name... also, I'm a muslim, so you can rule church out of the equation! haha...

I'm not going too fancy on the wedding... i'm definitely not spending $4,000 on flowers! I'm a finance graduate and i'm not too fond of sunk costs. All I care about the wedding is to see my wife-to-be in white and have the people I really care about around me. I still don't get why people in Lebanon spend so much money on weddings, cars, cell phones, clothes etc etc.

If I was willing to spend too much money on the wedding, I wouldn't be asking people here now, would I??

Anyway, thanks a lot for all your wishes and opinions, I really appreciate all of them....

Isn't there always someone who knows someone that can get your a "better" deal??

Not really as it will be replaced by paying the sheikh and the "Matba2iyet" that are a must in Kateb il Kitab..

When you say 300 or 350 person this is not a small wedding so you have to expect to pay ......

My advice is to go to a wedding arrangment person, who will worry about all the details within the budget you would have both agreed upon..

First of all Mabrouk Ana,

3a 2bél el 3ézzébé (including me :) ),

I've a friend who married last summer, he made a rather "grand-mariage", and i knew that the whole thing cost him between 18000$ and 20000$.

Mabrouk ya Ana

I think the wedding these days is really a burden on the couple. It all depends on how many people are going to attend but dont even think you will pay less than 10,000 USD. Keep in mind that the Hotel reservation or traveling are not included.

What i prefer to do is a small party and then travel with my bride somewhere in europe and spend at least one week.
