I am a talkative person, especially in home with my family. With my friends I like to talk about interesting things and engage their conversations. With my best friends I can talk during hours sharing our secrets.

I find quite rude what some neighbours can do. It's good to have a good relationship with neighbours but there are limits!
I understand they can be lonely and I like to listen to them, I don't mind it, but only when they let me talk too! Sometimes they ask a question and don't even wait for the answer!
Maybe yes they have many many things to talk about. Well if you have the time then listen to them. It's better to stay listening than to see them offended or sad, but if you really must go away you have to tell them. Put your hands in her shoulders or touch her arm, smile and just say "Oh today I have to go, I am late so sorry! Bye! Your dress is lovely!" and run away the faster you can!

By the way she still in that habit when she sees me so I just stopped going into buy things from her shop! BEST SOLUTION!!!
I laughed with the beggining of your post di, the cat thing was funny! I have a neighbour more or less like yours! Some years ago, everytime she saw me she used to tell me everything about her, about her husband, about her husband's lovers, about her sons (two jerks by the way!), about her sisters, about... everything!... I found a good way to get rid of her : after 15 minutes of conversation (or should I call it a monologue?) I tell her how much I and my sisters liked her daughter in law (she didn't like her at all!). I said such wonders about the girl that the woman got unpleased and since then she only says Good Morning and nothing more. Ufffff!

If I'm in the bus or in the shopping center and some stranger starts to talk with me I simply say "yes... I understand..." and then I move on. If they insist I use to tell them "I already understood your point of view, I can do nothing about it"

Ohhh and those men who seat at your side in the movies and start to talk with you? It's so frutrating because the room is full, you can't find other seat, you want to watch the movie in peace and silent and those guys talking to you! It happened to me once and I can tell you, it's just awful. He said things like "I already watched this movie yesterday. They die in the end, you know!" and then he continued his verbal incontinence: "I love this director, don't you? This actor is great, don't you think? And the sceneries... amazing! The first time I went to a theater I was 15 years old and it was with my first gf... bla bla bla".............................

It's happening to me right now... I'm working, trying to finish my work... and a colleague is sitting next to me and talking and talking and asking question... as if she's not seeing me busy!! ... and it's often happening...even if I tell her that I'm busy right now....
