Nicotine will kill much of the bacteria in the mouth. The downside is that it kills off some of the good bacteria, which protects against the bad bacteria - which can't be killed off by nicotine. So the end result is that you end up with worse bacteria in your mouth. That's why smokers are more at risk to get gum disease. Other reasons in addition to this explain why smokers are also more at risk to get influenza, tuberculosis, etc.

I use to feel dizzy if someone blew smoke in my face, and I'd run away from smokers and curse them in private. Now i don't anymore... What could the reason that I can't figure out be?
