freakin laws.
here is what you should do; or here is what you might want to do
if you have insurance you can speed through a yellow/orange light. if you're feeling a bit suicidal, you can walse your way through an orange turning red, as it should give you about 1 second before it turns green on the other side.
as long as you understand the newtonian laws of physics, both in terms of practice and theory, you will live, but that's a matter of choice.
as to the seatbelt, it is optional based on how clean the fabric is and what colors you happen to be wearing. you dont want to use a dusty/oily seatbelt over a white shirt, death is a much sweeter alternative.
can we talk about speed limits now and the frail arguments in their favor? | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

Btw one year ago, Wearing the Seatbelt was enforced in Lebanon .. that was the first time i saw taxi drivers wearing it lol.. it was a miracle ... Unfortunately this rule last only one month ... kassaro le score l lebneniye mechyo 3al nizam la chaher la 2anno ken fi zabet bi chi 50'000 LL.
Following the Rules in Lebanon is hardly achieved except in one case: ymacho le zbouta w khalli l zabet ywajji3 l 3alam chouey ktir and we will live happily ever | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

Please state the reason why do you stop or why do you speed your way through, because it is really important to your answer. | If it turns Orange I Speed without crossing 80 KM/hour and only if it is still Orange and didn't turn red because if I go above 80 feeya $150 fine and if I cross the red feeya $1500 , hadeh ba3ed ma balashana ne7keh bel points!!!
but most of the times i stop metel el shater :) | | | | | Orange Room Moderator

I'd be interested in a reference that says you should stop at orange no matter what.. | Well the point of the thread mainly is that you should follow the law.
As for crossing the orange, well it depends on the countries and how strict they abide by their laws. In countries like Austria and Switzerland, maximum 1% of all contested Orange driving penalties are pardoned, the rest they will pay metel al shatrin. And by repeated offensive, it may lead to losing your driving licence temporarily or permanently. | | | | | Orange Room Moderator

It is true that seatbelt might save life, and it is true that seatbelt can make you feel safer, but this shouldn't be the reason why you wear it. This is the typical Lebanese mentality that we are used to, and it is keeping our country such a jungle and stay in such a lawless chaos. Why? Because:
if we are gonna say yes both of you are right and one must wear his seatbelt because of safety and not because the law asks him too, then you will have another Gringo who will come and argue and say that actually it is safer to drive without a seatbelt, since you have more free movement and you can use it to prevent an accident, another one might add, in case of an accident, the seatbelt stuck on you might delay the rescuing operation thus, endangering your life more. So here we opened a whole debate about who thinks what is right, and we will have 2 camps, one with wearing the seatbelt and the other against it, and finally mar7aba laws, each one will do as he pleases.
Wearing your seatbelt must be and only be for the mere reason that you are following the law!!!!! And this is what the Lebanese must learn to do finally!!!
Now let us move to the next question, if you have a kid in the car with you, will you use a special seat for kids or not and why??? | | | | | Registered Member

But i also have a point... being convinced about the right and the bad things make you follow the rules anywhere even if you are not punished ... this is what i meant with my previous post. Quote:
