Default Question about Elaph - 19th February 2005

Can someone please tell me who runs the online journal Elaph ? What is their political tendency ? By whom are they financed ? To sum up, do you think that they are trustworthy ?
Thanks

A liberal Saudi Group.

It is very trustworthy and read by more than 3.5 million readers per day (yes, 3.5 million readers per day).

Thanks Comrade Bassam that's his name.
No he is not against the Royal family, you could say that he is a Saudi liberal to some extend.

Re: Question about Elaph - 26th March 2005

I'm very close to Elaph affairs, I've been working for it for long time now, and I can tell you that 3othman 3omair (the founder of Elaph) was recruited by foreign establishment (figure out yourself) when he was the Alsharq Alawsat newspaper’s chief editor in early 1990’s.

Lots of Arabic and Western observers have raised genuine questions about the rocket rise of 3omair’s personal wealth within few years while he was full time busy running the newspaper in London (UK) (the newspaper is owned by other Saudi nationals). Money laundering was among the answers they have got but foreign financing was very quietly leaked out.

He was kicked out (fired) of Alsharq Alawsat newspaper’s post after a very well known scandal.

By this, I think I have answered your questions except one; the last question “Is Elaph trust worthy” ………. ummm, ....... well, I will leave the answer to your best judgment in light of the above information.

It's that corrupt, huh? Why do you still work for it if you know that?
