The new 7 world wonders will be made made public on 07.07.'07, Let's have our own vote and see how the LFPMers will fare in comparison to the world.

Our poll will also close on 06.07.'07, you should vote for exactly 7 (seven) world wonders.
For the real thing, you'll need to go here to vote.

Christ the Redeemer is among the leading contenders to be the new seven wonders of the world as a massive poll enters its final month with votes already cast by more than 50 million people, organizers say. The seven winners will be announced July 7, 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal.

To me a wonder has to be beautiful, truly something that you'd want to visit on a summer vacation, and something that will make you wonder: "How the Heck did they build that?"

So Eiffel tower and recent things like that I wouldn't consider a wonder... what should be on there is the Temple in Baalbek.... World's largest stones.... "HOW THE HECK DID THEY MOVE THOSE?"

I wasn't following this event, but what do you mean by 7 new wonders?
The previous ones are no longer considered wonders or what?

I consider this is more like "famous touristic sites" rather than wonders of the world.

Because several factors should be taken into consideration, and several variables eliminated.

One important criteria should be the "time of construction", second is the "difficulty of construction at that time".

You can take any space shuttle nowadays and it will be 1000000 times more sophisticated and complex and miraculous than any of the old artifacts.

But to put the Eiffel Tour, and statue of libery, and Taj Mahal & the Rio de Janero Statue is nothing but a touristic nonsense.

And indeed, if you look at the 7 new "wonders", they are just famous touristic places that we talk of because of their beauty& fame, and not because of their wonder factor.

The temple of Jupiter in Baalbeck that is the BIGGEST roman temple to be ever built, with millions of mytholodies involved and being done in the 1st century BC, is not listed, and to see Taj Mahal (finished in 1648!!) having priority and being part of the 7 wonders, makes you skeptical about the whole thing.

i'm sorry but i'm against all this declaration of 7 new wonders thing!
it's purely emotional and has no historical or scientifical basis!
I don't think it's appropriate to classify 7 world wonders using the internet!
