Default Which name would you hide?? - 10th May 2007

Let's have some fun and some other serious posts at the same time discussing this thread's subject !!

Many say that the person MAKES his/her name and not the inverse! So whatever one's name is, he/she should accept it and say it loudly !

Many others are so irritated by their names and choose nicknames like Loulou, Zaza, Lili, Lola, Dida, Mimo... or whatever to hide their REAL names, like maybe Zarifé, Latifé, Labibé, Mechta7, Kafa... (I may like them but I'm talking about those who changed them!!)

Some wouldn't love their names just because they don't like them even if they're not so ugly, old and wierd ! (My daughter is always blaming me for her name for example, while I find it so nice ... I know that she will change her mind later !!)...

So what about you? Do you love your names ? Would you change them if you don't like them or would you deal with this REALITY to prove that you give a value to your name and not the inverse!

... And which names would you hide??

Kakou, chou basra bi nawmik ??

I like your post, everyone think about it. When we born, our parents chose a name 3ala zaw2oun w byijibrouna fi. Halla2 personally i like my name its a good one and has a meaning no ??? and i will never change it. Even if i also like when bi ghanjoulé ismé but not because i want to hide my real name lol because i like to itghannaj .

Iza min kabbir 3a2ilna chouey, we will realize that its just a name. Someone will like it and others no. A lot of people these days think that old arabic names are outdated and not beautiful anymore w mich 3al mouda. Sometimes i think like that but if i think deeply i feel that its a good names and i don't care about people opinions. A lot of our arabic names has a great meaning.

But sometimes i really don't know what the parents were thinking when they named their children. I have a friend, she is very cute w very brunette, Do you know what her name is???? Taljé , everytime i remember that name i laugh . Inno kif 2éja 3ala béloun ysammou3a Taljé ??? . When i look at her wlak manna bayda bil marra ktiiiiiiiir samra w ma khassa bi isma . But she used to like it and she doesn't want to change it.

Also i know someone called Boudi , her real name was "Badi3a" , halla2 howi l isim bida7ik chouey , bas 3anjad mahdoum. I think she is gonna change it.

My neighbor's son name is Naamatallah, he has 13 years old i think, but they called him Nounou , lol chou jéb la jéb

Ba3éd fi ktir, i will post it later

Those are nothing in front of that woman whom I know:
Her name is "Ziyara"... and each time she's asked do you want to leave a message (when she visits somebody and doesn't find them), she says: Tell them please Ijit Ziyara! And the answer is: We know mam jité ziyara, but WHO shall we tell them!! They'll know she'd answer!!

Another is wierdest but will post it later!!

I love my name, it represents who I am. But if my name was:

Hafiza

Is3af(ambulance)

Khudr

Jihad

Osama

I would defenitly change it.

Well, I like my name and its meaning... but people here in Australia find it hard to pronounce, I have to correct the pronunciation for them a few times to find out a few minutes later that they forgot how to pronounce it again! Very frustrating, especially on the phone when I need to give my name, I have to SPELL it too!! Then the operator thinks she's being friendly (or maybe finds me charming :$) and asks me, "Interesting name, how do you PRONOUNCE that?" That's when I would hang up.

The whole thing is testing my patience as I'm thinking of changing my name, but still quite hesitant. On one hand I should be 'proud' of my name (changing your name would mean that you're somehow ashamed of it, which is not my case) ; on the other hand spelling and pronouncing my name a hundred times a day is both time-consuming and nerve-wrecking!

In regards to the names that I would hide, my grandmother was named JAD3A, but changed it to Linda when she grew up. She was named Jad3a by her stepmother (mother died during delivery and father was pretty quick on the substitution LOL), she must have really LOVED her.

Sirius, I have the exact same problem here in oz too, but I refuse to change my name, I can never do it. I love it and I am proud of it.

My advice is that the people who are going to be in your life for a period of time will learn your name. The phone operators are just passers by, I always spell my name whithout saying it. Let it be if you like your name so much.
