guys, the way this dowry thing works in india is very simple:

u get a girl to prepare a fat dowry in exchange for u agreeing to marry her, since that is tradition.

then promptly after u marry her, u promptly beat her to near death or preferably just to death since that i also tradition so that u can get the next girl in line with her dowry to propose to u again.

that's the magic of india, where ppl get away with simply astounding feats of bs :)

my indian friend was telling me today that, in india, the bride's family SHOULD PAY dowry for the groom. Obviously this differs from one city to another, but usually it's between $60K and $80K in higher-class regions.

these men are just without honor , without respect and don't appreciate life



if they are willing to ruin their lifes at least let it be for 500K .......

In Lebanon many women did pay what we call "dotta" to men:)
it is old fashioned now but i am pretty sure that if you ask your parents or grand parents they would tell you about it.

anyway being married already and mother of 2 lovely boys i wouldn't mind if this habit returns .

Why not can anyone tell me?

I don't like the idea at all..no one should pay the other money shou we are objects to be sold...i prefer if we both work and be partners in everything house expenses mortgage everything that is what marriage is..sharing hard and good times together
