In India, men get paid for getting married!!!!!!!

my indian friend was telling me today that, in india, the bride's family SHOULD PAY dowry for the groom. Obviously this differs from one city to another, but usually it's between $60K and $80K in higher-class regions.


This amount increases if the groom has a high and prestigious position, some good education, a western citizenship, etc... I was like ... literally.

If every society in the world shows the same respect and offer the same consideration to men like Indian society, the world ken b2alf khayr.

What I could never comprehend is some societies where men have to set aside some money to pay the parents of a woman. It's akin to bribing one's own executioner.

It's true. I once watched a documentary about this on the discovery channel. It goes even beyond that, there are several cases where the bride's family fails to pay the entire amount agreed upon and as a revenge the groom sets the bride on fire while she's alive.
She will be disfigured and alienated by the society and if anyone tires to help her they will be too!

Think about it logically ya faithful. why are her parents ready and willing to pay a man to take her off their hands?
To me it sounds like one of two reasons:
1- because they figured if she stays with them her up-keep will cost more so they decided it's cheaper to flog her off onto someone else's care. You do know the common Lebanese saying: هم البنات للممات

2- They cant stand her any more and are desperate to get rid of her so they are willing to pay someone to take her and in such case it's only fair the man is afforded some kind of compensation for his philantropy.

I think men should pay women to marry them. Specially if the man want to have kids. She is the one who take all the risks from getting pregnant, to give birth and to suffer passing more than 80% of her time with the kids. He should also pay her every time she is pregnant.

And to pay her the time she is passing at home cleaning and cooking for him and the time when he will get old pay her to take car of him when he will be old (since majority of men are older than the women they marry) and most of the time, he die before her, so she ends up being by herself at the end of her days.

But maybe the oposition happens in India because men considered themselves objects, thats why they put themselves on sale ;p Women are so far from that, we consider too much the human side of us. We arent puppets

anny that's why marriage was invented, guys pay girls to take care of their kids.. hehe
so much for the romance.

but now, if one was logical, he would save his money and pay each girl for a one night stand like happens in red districts and forget about the nagging pain of marriage.

and even further, if men were really really logical and practical, they wouldn't marry at all which would force the girls to pay them to marry them like happens in india :)

i must say that when i was in the gulf i met and worked with indians for some time but i never understood anything about them, they were impenetrable by common western logic, but this dowry thing is the only thing that made sense to me when we talked about it.

ie: "no i don't think shiva gives a rat's tail about this dhcp server on this holy day, but yes indian girls paying guys to marry them seems pretty reasonable to me too.. ;)"

then if you wants a girl to pay you to get married, just go to india because that will never happen in the western world.

But I heard something about indian women as well, I have heard that one woman can marry many men because there are 1 girl for 6 guys. Is that true?
