I'm with naming (se7it el shohada) or any other big place in downtown after Mr. Hariri's name and also placing a big Statue of Mr. Hariri in that place.

As for the airport, well...what's wrong with the name "Beirut" ????? After all, Mr. hariri loved Beirut, and always wanted its name to shine all over the world.

Let's not forget that when Rene Mouawad was assassinated, they renamed Kleyate Airport after him.

For all those in favor of renaming the airport to Rafik Hariri International Airport, there is a petition online:

http://www.petitiononline.com/bspring

I really do hope it happens.

Just my opinion...

I'm for it. Commrade Bassam i don't mean to offend u in anyway but u have this "thing" in ur behavior where u have to always contradict every idea. The man helped rebuild our country and i think naming the airport after him will allow his name to be spoken on every tourist that enters lebanon.

he deserves such a thing, recalling the airport "Rafik Hariri international Airport" wont change the position of the airport as Beirut Airport.A man like him deserves something valuable to be done for his memory!! m with this nice idea

"this thing"?? what do you mean! i am confused, how come I never noticed any "thing" in his behavior. WiseCookie, he is just stating his opinion, not doing it to contradict necessarely.

Anyways as Bassam said, a lot of martyrs did a lot of good to Lebanon and in this case they wold each deserve than to have their name somewhere!
I believe the place where Hariri was assasinated would be more right to carry his name..but not the airport.
and as MD said what's wrong with the name Beirut... exactly as he said, Hariri loved Beirut and wanted its name to shine across the world.

I think a plaque should be placed where he was assassinated and maybe a small statue.

But I definately think the airport should be renamed after him.

Kleyate airport was named after Rene Mouawad when he was assassinated.

Other examples of airports named after someone assassinated in the world include New York John F. Kennedy Int'l, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and Dehli Indira Gandhi Int'l.

Regards
