Bakri denies he knew his daughter was a pole dancer
Beirut (dpa) - Radical Muslim cleric Sheikh Omar Bakri, who has been living in Lebanon since he was exiled from the Britain three years ago, said Monday he had no idea that his daughter was working as a pole dancer in London.

"If this is true, I am deeply shocked," Bakri said in Tripoli northern Lebanon.

"I brought her up properly according to the Muslim faith, but she is free to make her own choices in life. But I am still shocked," Bakri said.

Bakri said he had not spoken to his daughter for a long time, and he thought she was living with her husband in Turkey.

Bakri's daughter who changed her name from Yussra to Yasmine, has has a three-year-old son who was conceived during an arranged marriage to a Turkish man, has admitted that she works as a topless pole dancer in nightclubs.

"May God forgive her is if she is doing this, because only God will forgive her, not me," he said.

She was quoted as telling British newspapers that she does not get along with her father or support his radical views.

Bakri caused a media storm after the London bombings in 2005, declaring that the only people he blamed for the London bombings were the British government and public.

Born in Syria in the late 1950s, he became involved in the Muslim Brotherhood, a revolutionary organization that provided the foundations for Islamist political ideology.

He is the founder of the London branch of Hizb al-Tahrir (the Islamic Liberation Party), and of the organization Jama'at al- Muhajirun or the School of the Emigrants, in reference to those who accompanied the Prophet Muhammad on his flight or hegira from Mecca to Medina. dpa wh mga

The daughter of the radical Islamic cleric Omar Bakri has left her home in London amid fears for her safety after it was disclosed that she was a pole dancer.

Police were called to escort Yasmin Fostok, 27, away from her flat in the south of the capital to take her an undisclosed location on Saturday.

It emerged last week that Ms Fostok regularly performs in bars and nightclubs. There was also a report that her father - leader of the now outlawed al-Muhajiroun group - had paid for a £4,000 breast enlargement operation for her.

Ms Fostok, one of Bakri's three daughter's has dyed her hair blonde, changed her name from Youssra to Yasmin and separated from her Turkish-born husband.

Last week she admitted being was a dancer with a troupe called Ibiza Untouched and was quoted in The Sun as saying that she had been known to perform topless "if the venue is right".

But the reports of her activities angered her father and led to fears that she could make her a target for extremists.

Police have refused to confirm or deny reports that she has received security advice.

A spokesman said that officers had escorted her away from the property at her own request but denied suggestions that she had been taken to a "safe house".

Ms Fostok has distanced herself from her father, who praised the September 11 hijackers while living in Britain.

She was quoted last week as saying: "I don't agree with his views, I just get on with my life and that's it."

Bakri left Britain for Lebanon after the July 2005 bombings. He remains there despite an unsuccessful attempt to return to this country.

Last week he furiously denied the story about his daughter and claimed Britain would "pay a heavy price".

But, speaking from Lebanon yesterday, he went further, suggesting that Ms Fostok is an imposter and not his daughter.

Scotland Yard confirmed that police had been called to Ms Fostok's home at the weekend after the details of her life as a nightclub dancer were disclosed in the media. Syrian-born Bakri settled in north London where he brought his family up before leaving for Lebanon three years ago.

In 2006 he attempted to join the evacuation of British citizens from Beirut amid fighting between Israel and Hizbollah but was refused.

London, Oct.8 : Hate preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed has divorced his wife and taken a new bride who is a year younger than his pole dancer daughter.

The tubby Muslim extremist dumped 48-year-old Hanah for a Lebanese beauty called Ruba, 26.

Frustrated Bakri, 50, declared: "I must have a woman!" after Hanah - the mother of his six children - refused to stay with him in exile in Lebanon.

According to The Sun, Ruba has shacked up with Bakri and his ten-year-old son Bilal at his luxury home in a suburb of Beirut.

A source in Lebanon said yesterday: "Omar's wife (Hanah) came out to stay with him after he was first kicked out of Britain but she couldn't cope. She complained that she had no freedom and couldn't go anywhere without her husband.

"In Britain she was able to go shopping with friends and family and wear make-up and nice clothes in private. But it was different in Beirut because Omar observed a much more conservative lifestyle.

"They ended up having furious rows, with her saying she couldn't bear living like a prisoner.

"He said, 'Go back to England then and live your little life on income support'. She did as he wished and never came back - and now he's got a younger model."

One of Bakri's main concerns at not having a wife was having no one to cook and clean for him and attend to his every need.

Dark-haired, brown-eyed Ruba was introduced to him a year ago as a potential bride and they married soon after. She obeys the self-styled sheik's every command and has become a stand-in mum to Bilal.

Hanah has also remarried. She wed a 35-year-old Pakistani shopkeeper who runs a business near her state-funded semi in Edmonton, North London, eight months ago.
