achrafieh2005,
1- with the advancement of technology, and learning from past mistakes, the aviation sector keeps on getting safer. However, if you find yourself flying a 30 year old airplane out in the bush, may not be as safe. It comes down to the airline, airplane, and pilot. Some follow the rules, some don't.
2- To pilot, it's very different, since it comes down to the pilot him/herself. It's like driving, some people would rather to drive a sportscar, while others may want to drive a limo. Personally, I like the King Air 200, it's a turboprop executive style airplane. It's got turbine engines, extrememly powerfull, and alot of fun. The bigger you get, the more boring it gets.
3- Many airplanes, especially the airbus and boeing jets, are fully automated, they can do the whole flight whithout any flight control inputs by the pilot. When you're been on a flight from Atlanta to Hong Kong, and you reach the airport after a 14 hour flight, to find the weather a mess, it's wiser to let it fly itself down, while you enjoy the scenary :) Airlines make sure that you don't do this on every flight, but at the same time, every 3rd landing has to be an automated landing, this is an example of one way that it's done.

It's an expensive hobby, especially in Lebanon. There are a few clubs, what I'd do is find out who they are and how long they've been in business. When it comes down to something like this hobby, safety and professionalism has to be the priority. There are some professional instructors, and at the same time, there are some who are crooks and can't fly themselves.
I'd go with the bigger flight school, and one that has a good reputation.
The cost is probably 100-150$/hr. To get licenced, you will need to pay approximately 8K. It comes down to how fast you do it, and how good you become. You need a total of 45hours in the air, and 40 hours in the ground. Groundschool should not cost more than a few hundred dollars, but the flying part is the expensive one.
Sharing the cost was meant for when you go on a scenic flight, you can fit 3 people in the cessna 172, and divide the cost between the three. Ask to sit upfront and ask the pilot to let you fly it because you are interested. If you feel you like the idea of being up there in the small plane, then take a few lessons, and if you decide to do that, take it seriously from day 1.
