That was a heck of a final at Wimbledon against Roddick!
With 15 Grand Slam wins (Roland Garros, Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open), Roger is the record holder for most Grand Slams wins!
I think Roger Federer could even go uncontested not only for the greatest player of all time in Tennis, but also including all sports as well.
That's a hard thing to say, you can't compare sports, and you can't compare eras as well, because in some eras competition is tough is some others not so. Dominating an era doesn't mean if he existed in another era he could have dominated it to. He's a great player nonetheless, he won the most Grand Slams but greatest of all time is hard to say.
the one and only time sampras and federer faced each other was in round 1 of wimbeldon 2001..
federer was 19 year old back then, and not yet developed to his best game... and sampras was on a 31 game winning streak at wimbeldon ( the last 4 years 1997, 1998 , 1999 and 2000 wimbeldon champion was sampras)...
game was huge ... federer won by 5 sets ( 7–6(7), 5–7, 6–4, 6–7(2), 7–5 ) and stopped sampras winning streak
