Default Paolo Maldini played his last Game in SAN Siro - 25th May 2009

Maldini has played his last game with AC Milan in SAN Siro vs Roma. They lost 3 - 2.

Every supporter of Milan received a scarf to celebrate Maldini and an album of Panini with the 24 stickers of Maldini.
Maldini played his first game for AC Milan on Jan 20 1985 vs Udinese.

He has won various titles wearing AC Milan shirt..

- 7 time italian league champion
- 5 champions league
- 5 italian supercups
- 5 European Supercups
- 3 Intercontinental Cups
- 1 Italian Cup

Unfortunately Maldini deserved a better send-off. The supporters of Milan had a banner "Infinite champion on the pitch, but you were unrespectful towards the people who made you rich!". And then those supporters also sang "there is just one captain", and they were showing the shirt of Franco Baresi.

Maldini replied later on " I am proud I am not one of them ".
Disgusting, the guy is diehard Milanisti.

I looked that one up:
Baresi protest sours Maldini farewell - Latest Football news on MSN Malaysia Sport

I also reached some forum earlier from Google, and one post (reliable?) said that he called some supporters "peasants" and "mercenaries" after the loss against Liverpool in the Champions League. Basically, these supporters went to greet the Milan squad and asked Maldini what went wrong in that game, he replied with comments along the lines of "I don't speak to peasants."

It seems the guys he addressed were some of the "ultras," the hardcore fans of the team. And they too, didn't forget wil sama zar2a.

Maldini got involved in a supporter struggle couple of years back and backed a group of supporters over the others. And those were the ones that protested against him.

Sorry to dig the thread, but just wanted to make the whole thing clear.

In 2005, after the Istanbul final, which Milan was leading 3-0 then lost in penatlies after a 3-3 draw, when the Milan squad reached the airport in Italy some fans in their early 20's reached to Maldini and demanded that he apologized for the loss. He didn't give them one( I also think something happened between them). He explained it later in an interview saying that he who has played football for about 21 years(At that time) was not going to apologize to a bunch of kids.

Then in the Europe Super cup, between Seville and Milan, the Milan Ultras were silent and weren't chearing, when there was other Milan fans singing and all...Maldini was upset from them(Ultras) and I think he told them something bad

He never had the greatest relationships with the Ultras, as he was never close to them. Even when he had just been appointed captain, they said that he didn't deserve to be. In case you don't know much about the Ultras, they are the "MAIN FANS" of the teams in Italy. Those people have extreme power in the stadiums, as many of them get free tickets or cheaper season tickets. They also have great power in the club, and Galliani who is just under Berlusconi in tearms of power has escorts with him to protect him for them. The Curva Nud(Milan Ultras) have many groups, when the FDL(Fossa Del Leoni, group of the Ultras) were separted the stadium was never the same. They used to be one of the most loyal group fans in the history of Milan, and they were awesome, thus the San Siro wasn't as nice as before, and Maldini said at a time that San Siro was losing it charm(didn't mention FDL though).

Hope that was a good explanation.:)
