Italy's squad...

Abate (Torino), Acquafresca (Cagliari), Bocchetti (Genoa), Cigarini (Atalanta), Coda (Udinese), Consigli (Atalanta), Criscito (Genoa), De Ceglie (Juventus), De Silvestri (Lazio), Dessena (Sampdoria), Giovinco (Juventus), Marchisio (Juventus), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Motta (Udinese), Nocerino (Palermo), Rocchi (Lazio), Rossi (Villareal), Viviano (Brescia). Le quattro riserve: Candreva, Ranocchia, Russotto, Sirigu.

Some nice players there for italia
But I dont think they will win the gold..argentina & brazil are coming with very good players.

Italy's first game on august 7th vs honduras

Default Olympics: shame for Lebanon - 5th August 2008

Lebanon is sending 5 athletes for this Olympics.

For comparison: Hungary that has about double the population of Lebanon is sending 171 athletes.

Until when will the Olympic Committee be hijacked by General Souhail Khoury who achieved nothing for sports and stretching athletes, but achieved a lot at stretching his pocket?

Hungarians are a genetically superior race!

I suppose we could do better, but Lebanon isn't such a rich country to invest itself so much into sports... Anyways, sports might not be our strong... If the IOC finally admitted politics as an official discipline, we could do better, perhaps even get some medals!

Hungary is not that much richer, trust me on that. In Lebanon we have an olympic and sport committees who never did anythinig.

When was the last time we saw amateur events in Lebanon for kayaking, arching, or any other sport besides basketball and football on TV? No organized events, nothing to draw attention to people.

Not everything requires money, you need first to stimulate the people, make events and venues for amateurs. After that will some people decide to go pro, but no one will go right away to decide to become a professional olympic kayak rower for example.

That's where the responsibility of those wankers in the committee is.

With a GDP/capita equaling more than double that of Lebanon, and a population that is MORE than double of ours, I think it's safe to say that Hungary is much richer than Lebanon, by head, and in total!

Plus, let's not forget the great history Hungary has. Up until the begin of the 20th century, it formed one of the oldest and greatest empires in the world. Lebanese were still waiting to find out what a potato was...

And furthermore, it is a country that has known the discipline of Communist ideology... Lebanon has known 15 years of civil war...

Let's not compare Lebanon to Hungary, but perhaps to another country, as poor, as small, and that also has had its share of wars...
