Finally another NFL fan ! :p
Elie, welcome to the forum mate.

A Tony Romos' Cowboys fan! That Bill Parcells mix with Terrell Owens looks great indeed!

I remember Martin Gramatica from his days with Tampa Bay, great defensive team. Indeed he is Automatica Gramatica. (btw, he is from Argentina )

I think New England, Baltimore, Indiana and San Diego are gonna clinch their respective divisions in the AFC. The Bengals, Jaguars and the Broncos have the better chances to advance to the playoffs
In the NFC, it's Chicago (great defense this year), Seattle, New Orleans and your Cowboys are gonna clinch the divisions titles. The Eagles is the best team for the wild card.

This week, I am looking forward to Baltimore vs. Kansas City, Indiana vs. Jacksonville, Denver vs. San Diego and Dallas vs. New Orleans.

Terrell Owens fined $35,000 for spitting

Terrell Owens has 35,000 reasons to never spit at an opponent again.

T.O. was fined $35,000 by the NFL on Monday for spitting in the face of Atlanta cornerback DeAngelo Hall during Saturday night's Cowboys-Falcons game.

Although it's more than twice as much as the last fine for spitting, the flamboyant receiver avoided a suspension. Owens wasn't ejected because officials didn't see it.

Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said Monday "we don't condone that kind of activity," adding the team may also punish Owens.

"If we did, I wouldn't make anybody aware of it," Parcells said.

Owens initially told the NFL Network after the game: "I got frustrated and I apologize for that. It was a situation where he kept bugging me and getting in my face."

But on Monday, he insisted it was an accident.

"When it happened, we were jawing in each other's face, so it wasn't anything intentional," Owens said. "I didn't intentionally spit in his face. He's trying to make it seem like more than what it was by saying I hauled off and spit in his face. I feel like if I spit in his face ... somebody would've seen it."

Earlier this season, an accidental overdose landed Owens in a hospital emergency room. His publicist denied a police report calling it a possible suicide attempt, saying he had $25 million reasons to live.

During a playoff game last season, Washington's Sean Taylor was kicked out of a game for spitting at Tampa Bay's Michael Pittman. Taylor was later fined $17,000.

Denver linebacker Bill Romanowski was fined $7,500 for spitting in the face of 49ers receiver J.J. Stokes in 1997.

Owens is making $10 million this season as part of a three-year, $25 million contract signed in March.

Not having Owens would've hurt the Cowboys (9-5) more, too, as he's their leading receiver and they are fighting for playoff positioning.

They've already clinched a playoff spot, but can win the NFC East with a victory Monday against Philadelphia -- Owens' former team.

NFL Top 5 ranking after week 15:

1. San Diego Chargers (12-2) – With all due respect to the other quality left tackles in the AFC, rookie Marcus McNeill might be the best of the bunch this season. If the NFL draft were held again today, he'd be a top 5 pick and go ahead of the Jets' D'Brickashaw Ferguson.

2. Baltimore Ravens (11-3) – It's still a harrowing sight to see Kyle Boller stepping in and taking over a game, but you have to give the kid credit. He's done an impressive job in spot duty this season in place of Steve McNair. The question is: What are the Ravens going to do with Boller long term? His deal is up after 2007, and he still looks like he deserves a crack at the starting job when McNair hangs it up.

3. Chicago Bears (12-2) – Of all the stupid things that have happened this season (and there were about a million), defensive tackle Tank Johnson's arrest on misdemeanor weapons charges last week was the dumbest of all. Though the Bears won't cut Johnson, they should.

4. Indianapolis Colts (11-3) – That spin move defensive end Dwight Freeney put on Bengals guard Andrew Whitworth was the single sickest pass-rushing move we've seen all season. With all due respect to quarterback Peyton Manning and wide receiver Marvin Harrison, nobody played better than Freeney Monday night.

5. New England Patriots (10-4) – The red zone sputtering (2-for-6 on Sunday) is a concern and the Patriots are getting almost nothing out of their second-tier wideouts. However, running back Corey Dillon still looks relatively fresh as a result of the shared workload this season with Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk.

This is the last week of the regular season!
In the AFC things are clear, San Diego Chargers will get this one:

1. San Diego Chargers
2. Baltimore Ravens
3. Indianapolis Colts
4. New England Patriots
5. Denver Broncos
6. NY Jets

As for the NFC, let's get the top five out of the way first:

1. Chicago Bears
2. New Orleans Saints
3. Philadelphia Eagles
4. Seattle Seahawks
5. Dallas Cowboys

As for the No. 6, well, I think the Rams will get this spot with a win at Minnesota.

Broncos' Williams shot to death in Colo.

Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed in a drive-by shooting early Monday after an argument at a nightclub, his limousine sprayed with bullets in downtown Denver.

Team spokesman Jim Saccomano said police called him about 3 a.m. from the scene and told him three people had been shot, and the 24-year-old Williams had been killed. His death came hours after the Denver Broncos were eliminated from the playoff race.

A little after 2 a.m., a white Hummer limousine was fired on from a vehicle that pulled up along its side, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. As many as a dozen bullet holes were visible on the driver's side of the vehicle. One window was blown out and four others had bullet holes.

Three people in the limo were hit and taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital, where one man was pronounced dead, Jackson said. The other man and woman who were shot were not identified.

The Rocky Mountain News reported that wide receiver Javon Walker was one of the passengers but wasn't wounded. It was unclear how many people were in the limo.

Jackson said there was a dispute at a nightclub several blocks from the shooting where Williams and his group had attended a New Year's Eve party. He said the argument didn't specifically involve Williams, according to witnesses.

"Why this happened, we're not sure," Jackson said. "There was some confrontation between a group of people in the vehicle and a group at the nightclub."

Police were searching for a white Suburban or Tahoe they suspect was involved. Jackson wouldn't identify any of the other passengers nor would he confirm whether any other Broncos players were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, saying they were all witnesses.

The club identified by police advertised a New Year's Eve event celebrating the birthday of Denver Nuggets star Kenyon Martin. Nuggets officials didn't immediately respond to questions about whether any of their players were involved.

The limo sat in a snowbank beside Speer Boulevard, a main street through downtown. Police and technicians worked amid snow and ice from recent storms, using small yellow plastic markers to indicate possible evidence.

Saccomano said he spoke with coach Mike Shanahan and others in the organization. Hours earlier, the Broncos lost to San Francisco 26-23 in overtime.

"Complete shock. We're speechless. It takes words away," Saccomano said.

"It is a terrible tragedy," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello added. "We don't know all the details yet, but we are reaching out to the Broncos to offer our support."

The previous active NFL player to die was Thomas Herrion of San Francisco. He had a heart attack following an exhibition game in Denver on Aug. 20, 2005.

Champ Bailey was among the Broncos players and staff members who gathered at Denver Health Medical Center, where Williams' body was taken.

"He had a big heart and a lot of courage," said Cedric Smith, assistant strength and conditioning coach. "It's a tragedy, a complete tragedy. It's sickening."

Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams played two seasons with Darrent Williams at Oklahoma State.

"It makes you want to stay home and not go out to places when you see things like that," Kevin Williams said. "You hate to see it. He was a hardworking kind of guy. He was a great guy."

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy called the death a "tragic loss for the Broncos family, Oklahoma State University and anyone who knew Darrent Williams. It's a loss that goes far beyond the football field."

Williams teamed with Bailey to give Denver one of the NFL's top cornerback tandems. Williams finished the season with 88 tackles, 78 of them solo, and four interceptions.

Even though players and coaches had the day off and weren't scheduled to meet until Tuesday before scattering for the offseason, about 20 players gathered at team headquarters Monday to console one another.

"Anytime you lose a guy who was close to everyone, it hurts," punter Paul Ernster said. "From the get-go, he was like one of your good friends."

On Sunday against the 49ers, Williams had three tackles and returned two punts for 50 yards before leaving the game with a shoulder injury late in the second half. After the game he said he planned to wait a few weeks before deciding if he needed an operation.

Williams, a second-round draft pick in 2005, made an immediate impact on the Broncos. He started nine times in his rookie season following a stellar college career.

Anthony Criss, Williams' high school football coach in Fort Worth, Texas, spoke with the cornerback often, and as recently as two weeks ago.

"When he was younger, he always gravitated to the wrong crowd," Criss said. "I remember he went to church and the minister was talking to him about needing to pray and stop hanging around with the wrong people, and he started straightening up and doing the right thing."

Williams matured at Oklahoma State, turning his eye toward pro football, Criss said.

"I visited him his junior year, and he was grown," Criss said. "Everything was, `Yes, sir. No, sir.'"

In December, Williams spoke of returning to his hometown this offseason to talk to youngsters about staying out of gangs. Williams, who has two young children in the Fort Worth area, recently talked to Criss about establishing a free football camp for youth players.

"He had great compassion," Criss said. "He always wanted to try to make sure people did the right thing. He wanted to be a good parent, a good father, a good example for his kids. He will be missed."

Ladanian Tommlinson is the season's MVP

Ladanian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers ran away with The Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award Thursday the way he eluded defenders in leading his team to the NFL's best record (14-2) and a favorite's role for the Super Bowl.

Tomlinson received 44 of the 50 votes from a nationwide panel of sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL. Former teammate Drew Brees, now the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, got four votes, and Indianapolis QB Peyton Manning got two.

Tomlinson had one of the greatest seasons in NFL history.

Among the league records he broke were Shaun Alexander's mark for touchdowns by scoring 31 (28 rushing), and Paul Hornung's 46-year-old scoring record. Tomlinson scored 186 points, eclipsing Hornung's mark by 10 points.

Tomlinson rushed for a league-high 1,815 yards on 348 carries, had 56 receptions for 508 yards and was 2-for-3 as a passer, both completions going for touchdowns.

Playoffs time!

Saturday, January 13, 2007

Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens: What a matchup, the league's best offense against the best defense!

The Ravens (13-3) rode the top-ranked defense in the NFL to the No. 2 seed in the AFC. Baltimore allowed league lows of 264.1 yards and 12.6 points per game in the regular season, and scored six defensive touchdowns.

With its dominating defense and an efficient offense directed by quarterback Steve McNair, acquired in an offseason trade with Tennessee, this season's Ravens have drawn comparisons to the squad that won the Super Bowl six years ago.

Indianapolis led the AFC with 379.4 yards per game during the regular season and ranked second in the league with 26.7 points per contest. Manning ranked first in the NFL with 31 touchdown passes and second with 4,397 passing yards, but is coming off a subpar performance against the Chiefs -- he was intercepted three times and did not complete a deep pass.

Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints might not have an offense full of players with playoff experience, but they came together to form the league's top-rated unit this season.

The Saints are counting on that offense to lead them into the NFC title game for the first time Jan. 13 when they face the surging Philadelphia Eagles, who can earn their fifth trip in six seasons.

Sunday, January 14, 2007

Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears demolished the Seattle Seahawks in front of a national television audience in early October, but now both teams are looking quite different.

The Bears will look to put their recent struggles behind them, while the Seahawks will try to continue their run as a team of 'destiny' when they meet in the rematch Jan. 14 at Soldier Field in an NFC divisional playoff game.

Chicago (13-3) handed Seattle its most lopsided loss in more than nine years with a 37-6 victory on Oct. 1, but on that Sunday night in Week 4, Rex Grossman was playing like an MVP-caliber quarterback while the defense was looking outstanding.

Will the Bears defense hold against the Seahawks?

New England Patriots at San Diego Chargers

LaDainian Tomlinson finished off one of the best statistical seasons in NFL history with an MVP award, but he and the San Diego Chargers lack the playoff success of their AFC divisional-round opponents.

Tomlinson will try to prove himself in the postseason when the top-seeded Chargers play host to the New England Patriots on Jan. 14.

Tomlinson rushed for a league-high 1,815 yards and scored an NFL-record 31 touchdowns this season, leading San Diego to a franchise-best 14-2 record and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The stellar season earned him acclaim as perhaps the most dangerous player in the NFL, as he scored 23 touchdowns in his last 10 games.

Let's wait and see if the Pats' defense going to stop Ladanian Tomlinson, the best RB of the NFL!

Defense, defense! Go Ravens!!!!
