That is a heavy duty offense, but no one gave them a chance especially with a new coach..
The other surpirse for me is the Ravens, their defense has been the number one for couple years, but I was not expecting so much from the rookie QB Joe Flacco and their new coach.. Eagles and Steelers are not a surprise, except the way the Eagles made it to the playoffs. Keep in mind that is the 5th NFC Championship game for the Eagles in 8 years.. |
The Ravens had numerous injuries last season, in addition to no QB, thats why they werent good. With a defense like Baltimore's, all you need is a decent QB to win. look at the Vikes, all they have is a stud RB and a good defense, thats why they ended up winning their division, they need an upgrade at QB in order to achieve more.
As for Philadelphia, you wouldnt have banked on them coming out of a division that features the defending Super Bowl champ, an explosive Cowboys team, and a good Redskins team. Their defense is good and with an elite QB and an elite RB, they could be tough to beat. I see them beating the Cards to make it to the Super Bowl.
As for the Cards, I agree it was a surprise. They have a hall of fame QB though and 2 stud receivers. Their running game is suspect with an ageing Edgerrin James.
The Steelers are always a force to be reckoned with. Suffocating defense, excellent running game (due to an excellent offensive line), a good QB that always manages to put together a game winning drive.
I think the Giants should have been at this stage hadn't it been for Buress's off the field antics.
One more thing to note, the final four teams feature the 4 pro bowl safeties, one on each team.
