They told me that that russian guy (# 27 i guess) is their best i c a lot of his jerseys in Ottawa & the best player right now is also a russian in Washington.

to love the game i would like to know its history so i guess that the net & my friends are the best source.

anyway thanks w nchalla nol2ata lal puck
Haha, you got it right the best player is the number 27, his name is Alex Kovalev.

His nicknames are:

L'Artiste / The Artist (because of the way he handles the puck, he's amazing)

AK-27 : as a reminder of his russian roots and of course the AK-47

If you want here's a nice and short documentery about the last Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup win: YouTube - MONTREAL CANADIENS 1993 ROAD TO THE CUP
(It's really good, it gets you all excited)

And here's a video about Alex Kovalev's last season's top ten goals, you'll see how good he is: YouTube - Top 10 GOALS Alex Kovalev 07-08

As for the other russian dude in Washington, his nickname is Alexander Ovechkin, they call him Alexander the Great. He's the best scorer in the NHL and one of the top three players in the whole league (and he's only 23)

And I'm sure you heard about Sidney Crosby, the next Wayne Gretzky (the Michael Jordan of hockey, also nicknamed "The Great One" and the only player indicted in the Hall of fame less than a year he retired and his jersey #99 is the only one that can't be worn by any other player in the WHOLE league) he's 21 and one of the top 3 players in the league. His nicknames are "Sid the Kid" and "The Next One". Probably one of the most talented guys in the history of hockey and the canadian people love him since he's one of them :)

The remaining member of the top three is probably Evgeni Malkin, another Russian dude, he's only 22 but really amazing.

Russians and Canadians are by far the most talented hockey players, but you would find good Finnish, Swedish and Tcheque dudes....

Yalla that's your hockey lesson for today, enjoy !!!

how abt teemu selanne as a hockey legend ? he scored 76 goals in his first rookie year never done by any body. thats a goal scorer but his career was held by so many injuries.

u got also swedish legends like : peter forsberg , marcus naslund , daniel alfredsson , mats sundin.

on the other hand

russians are gr8 but i think the swedes are more balanced.

russia has a marvelous offence with evegeni malkin and ovechkin but think of sweden who's got niclas lidstrom , niclas kronwall as a defence , the sedin twins and the legendary trio up there. + henrik zetterberg.

my top 10 national hockey teams would be :

1- sweden
2- canada
3- russia
4- czech republic
5- USA
6- Finland
7- slovakia
8- slovenia
9- latvia
10- norway

Selanne is indeed a great player, but if we went out to name all the big players it would take us an eternity to do so.

As you said the Swedish may be more balanced, but they still have something missing.

For example, the russians have an almost complete team with an explosive attack.

Try to see this team:

Attack:
Ovechkin - Malkin - Kovalchuk
Kovalev - Datsyuk - Semin

Defense:
Markov - Gonchar

Goalie:
Khabibulin

But of course my favorite team would have to be Canada. They may not be have the super talent that the Russians have, but man they can do amazing things:

Attack:

Lecavalier - St-Louis - Iginla
Joe Thornton - Crosby - Getzlaf
Savard - Bergeron - Carter
Nash - Marleau - Richards
Heatley - Spezza - Staal

Defense:

Green - Boyle
Niedermayer - Pronger
Wideman - Souray

Goalie: (take your pick)

- Brodeur
- Luongo
- Leclaire
- Osgood
- Price
- Mason
- Fleury
- Biron
etc etc

It's really hard to weigh hockey teams, since you may have great players in the whole team, but if your coach sucks and if there's no chemistry your whole team could go down.

Case in point, Habs.

hehe,
man I wouldn't kid about Latendresse.. The guy is 22 years old and twice as big as me.... I wouldn't take the risk of being punched by him.

As for Brisebois, he can barely move on the rink :)

You better revisit history buddy.

This will be the 32nd time Montreal and Boston face off in the playoffs, the record is 24-7 for Montreal. The last three times the teams met the habs kicked Bruin ***, regardless of who finished where in the standings.

In 2004, it was the exact same situation, Boston #1 vs Montreal #8, Montreal won. In 2002, Habs victory in 6. And of course in 2007, beautiful series, a win in 7 games.

I'm going to enjoy watching Laraque beat the **** out of that punk Lucic.

To all you Vancouver fans, keep remembering where your goalie is from. You would be nothing without him.
