You obviously haven't followed a couple of games with a hockey connaisseur.
I used to think the way you did, but seeing that it's the only sport you could follow in Montreal, I had to learn the game.
The goalie's job is the hardest amongst all players.
There's no team that can get to the Stanley Cup without a good goalie.
And good goalie doesn't mean a big guy, it means someone who has good positioning, good reflexes and knows what decisions to took and at what time.
As for the players, you would see that the players who have strong shots are not the best scorers, it's the ones who have the best skills. i.e: How to manipulate the puck, how precise they are, etc etc

One game would change your whole perception of it, especially in Montreal where the stadium has been sold out in every single game for the past 4 years...Not to forget the amazing ambiance over there !
