No doubt that schumacher is a great driver, one of the best this sport has witnessed, but i don't feel that such a comparison is fair !

I mean that at the time of Senna and Prost, how many GP were there per year ? now were at 17-18 races per year!!! this means that he has the chance to score double the points that Senna (for instance) scored in one season.

In 1992, which was Michael’s first full year in F1,he was 3rd in the championship behind the champion Nigel Mansell and runner up Ricardo Patrese, but ahead of his team mate Martin Brundle who came 6th and triple world champion Ayrton Senna, who was 4th.. With that victory and 7 more podium finishes and 53 points

Between 1981 and 1989, the number of races/ season was 16 GP
Between 1990 and 1999, the nb of races/season was between 16 and 17 GP
Between 2000 and 2006, the nb of races per season consists from 17 GP (except for 2004 and 2006 : 18 GP, 2005 the season when Schumi won only one GP : 19 GP)
From the above, you can conclude that Senna's seasons were consisted from 16 races or 17 races.
Schumi's seasons were consisted from 16 or 17 races too(except for the years 2004, 2005 and 2006)

You want a fair comparison:
Schumacher has won 90/247 * 100 = 36.5% of the races he participated in
He reached the Podium in 153/247 * 100 = 62% of the races he participated in

In the other hand, let us check what Senna has did:
He did win 41/162 *100 = 25% of the races he participated in
He did reach the podium in 80/162 * 100= 49% of the races he participated in

Why do we always have to make these comparisons between Senna and Schumacher. Let's just say they were the two best drivers in formula 1 history, and that they were both so good that a fair and accurate comparison between them cannot be made.

They're the two greatest, let's keep it at that.

schumi has prooved that he is the best formula one driver in history and i m very sad because after him it'll be a boring sports altought i think that Senna would have challanged him if he's still alive.
ps: i wrote this comment before reading that somebody else had talked about senna (proove for me that i m not wrong)

alright...
Again, I shall say that Ayrton Senna is the best driver of all times.
I lived in Brasil before 1994. He had so much popularity on those times and still, and when he died, it was a great catastrophe to all Brazilians... there was a strike of 3 days because of his death, you can imagine how hard it was.
Why is Ayrton Senna still considered to be the best driver? Because the man had won many times with different cars. Because there were lots ofchallenges facing him, and there was real competition.
Why Schumacher is not considered better than Senna as a driver, according to me. In my own opinion, Ferrari should be given a greater credit for what he has acconplished. With how many companies have schumacher won? Was there any real rival against Ferrari (except for this year)? Were the cars in the past more technologically advanced than today's car? Were the rules and regulations the same (they were more tough in the past)? I bet that if Shumacher had changed cars instead of staying in Ferrari he would never been in the podium as a winner.
Yes, everything has changed. even the popularity of formula 1 has changed from the past.
And i am not saying Schumacher is not a good driver, dont take me wrong. he is one of the best today, the car has helped him a lot though.

Schumaker won twice with beneton before joining Ferrari
when he joined ferrari they were a miserable car and not competitive but since then they evoluated
the rules changed ok but they changed for everyone
the cars weren't as technologicall advanced as today ok but it was the case for every one
Why Do you want schumaker to change cars ?? he came to ferrari helped building it and it glory it's not to move to another car once ferrari are at their bst period

it's not like Sena was driving a minardi and he won the title against a ferrari come on guys ok he was a great driver but he had a good car too other wise he wouldn't be able to win anything

in 1988 1990 1991 senna was driving on the maclaren-honda car the best car in the championship along side with his team mate prost they won 15 of the 16 races in 1988 that tells it all
after 1991 maclaren declined and In 1994, Senna finally left the ailing McLaren team for the top team at the end of 1993 Williams-Renault

SO PLEASE stop just saying that Senna is better than Michael cause if you really want to compare them well in 1992 Schumi finished third and senna 4th knowing that michael was on beneton-Ford a very average car while senna was still on maclaren

It's not because Senna passed away in a car accident that (may he rest in peace ) that this can make him better than schumi no and no you are too affective and not objective at all

for me facts show that Michael is the best driver EVER

It is well-nigh impossible to compare drivers of different eras, but Senna and Schumacher make the job slightly easier because they raced against each other - albeit for a very brief time.

Senna combined all the qualities a racing driver could need - amazing skill, total commitment and a brilliant intellect.

And that was quite apart from a gleaming charisma that has established him as one of the all-time great sporting icons.

Schumacher is sensationally gifted, too, and it is clear that Senna's death robbed Formula One of what would have been one of the greatest on-track rivalries of all time.

At 34, Senna was at his peak, but probably did not have much longer there; Schumacher still had to reach his.

Schumacher has done more than enough to establish himself as one of the greatest racing drivers of all time. But the assessment, subjective though it might be, suggests that Senna was even better.
