La Liga - Real agree Heinze deal

The messy Gabriel Heinze saga has finally reached its conclusion after the Manchester United defender agreed a four-year contract with Real Madrid.

Heinze was still considering whether to launch an appeal against the Barclays Premier League decision to block his preferred to Liverpool when Real made their move.

United, aware the 29-year-old's Old Trafford future was non-existent, were quick to agree a fee with the Spanish champions, believed to be well in excess of £5million, forcing the issue back into Heinze's court.

Chelsea winger Arjen Robben is poised to move to Real Madrid after both clubs announced they had reached agreement on the Dutch international's transfer.

The deal is now only subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

A Chelsea statement released on Wednesday said: "Chelsea Football Club and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Arjen Robben subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical."

Chelsea has agreed a deal for Barcelona right-back Juliano Belletti.

The Londoners expect the 31-year-old Brazilian to move to Stamford Bridge if he agrees personal terms and passes a physical.

The move appears to end Chelsea's interest in Sevilla's right-back Daniel Alves and comes less than 24 hours after Chelsea agreed to sell Dutch winger Arjen Robben to Real Madrid.

Madrid plans to present Robben and Gabriel Heinze to the fans and media at 4pm Thursday.
