HMM. you should read the lines better. I said if taken seriously brazil wins it. England NT IS Limited in many things. Especially choices. Any of italy, argentina or brazil can put 6 - 7 squads. England can barely put 2 good teams. Quote: |

This is the best english national team since they won the world cup in 1966! Their players are world class wether defensive players, midfielders, or strikers! Only the keeper is a bit of a problem like Saladin said.
And this is coming from an English fan | English media is known for their hype and bias. Anything english they consider it very good. Remember the days when they considered wayne rooney to be the second coming of pele. Dude is not even close to be put on the level of cristiano ronaldo or lionel messi let alone maradona or pele.
Best english team since 1966? I remember english being sure to win world cup 2002 . And they tought world cup 2006 final will be england vs brazil. Always hype and talk by the media but no action.....
On what basis england have same chances as brazil argentina or spain?? QUALIFIERS??
Who is englands keeper? why do they rely on david beckham still??
What top class striker they have aside rooney??? They have good ones, but not world class.
England is 2nd class team. Capello is a genious coach which is making them look good. But on paper they are not that good. When they had average coach like mclaren they didnt make it past the qualifiers to euro. That tells sthg.. | | | | | Registered Member

To answer first about Rooney, well I'm a pretty admirer for this lad but I never remember him being called as the next Pele. The only thing he was called is being the next Sir Bobby Charlton. Period!
And regarding 2002 and 2006 world cup, England's hopes were a bit high but not as high as now especially in the glory days of Kaka, Ronaldinho, Henry, and many others.
England's chances to win the world cup as Brazil, Spain, and Argentina, and others are not based on the qualifiers of course. Qualifiers are like a pre-match before the beginning of a long and tired season. Like Argentina, they struggled in the qualifiers and then went on to win the world cup, I think in 1986. But what makes England's squad different than all the previous squads is the chemistry between the players when Capello is in charge.
It's totally a different team, and if u used to watch England's games before (which I doubt), u will see what I'm talking about! Dude, even Gerrard and Lampard are now best friends
England's keeper S are: David James, Ben Foster, and Robert Green. As for the strikers, well beside Rooney, u have Bent, Defoe, Heskey, Agbonlahor, Crouch, even Michael Owen can be an option. And who said they are relying on David Beckham?! He barely starts a game or even play in it! So I don't think that's called relying on him... U have a lot of follow up to do!
And I cannot even believe that u are comparing that loser Mclaren to Capello! The only thing I'm going to say is that Capello managed to do what Mclaren couldn't ever do, build a TEAM! | | | | | Registered Member

For more than 20 years now, every 4 yrs, I hear the same old disc playing: "England has the best Team now since 1966" and yet they keep on losing in the middle stages of the WCs. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Führer For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

Becks to miss out on England match vs. Brazil LONDON (AP) -- David Beckham will miss England's friendly against Brazil next week after his American club Los Angeles Galaxy beat Chivas USA in the Major League Soccer Western Conference semifinals.
Beckham was named in the England squad for Saturday's match against Brazil, but on the proviso that he would be spared international duty if the Galaxy beat Chivas on Sunday. The MLS Western Conference final will be played during the same weekend that England face Brazil in Qatar. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

Michael Owen, who made his World Cup debut with Beckham in the 1998 tournament, looks increasingly unlikely to make it to South Africa with Capello again omitting the Manchester United striker from his 24-man squad.
Sunderland forward Darren Bent, who has made just one appearance for England since the Italian coach took charge in January 2008, has been named in the squad that will travel to the Middle East.
Bent had fallen behind Carlton Cole as the backup to England's main target man, Emile Heskey. But both Heskey and Cole have been ruled out of the friendly.
Tottenham's Peter Crouch will be hoping to start up front alongside Wayne Rooney due to his haul of 16 goals in 17 England starts.
Goalkeeper David James has been dropped despite playing Saturday for Portsmouth. Capello is concerned about the 39-year-old James' knee problems which prevent him from training for two days after matches.
Manchester United center back Rio Ferdinand is also ruled out through injury and his World Cup hopes now rely on playing regularly to prove his fitness.
At left back, there is no place for Ashley Cole despite the Chelsea player completing the full match against Manchester United on Sunday.
Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock will hope to play despite Wayne Bridge also being selected at left back. Warnock's only England experience is eight minutes as a substitute against Trinidad and Tobago in June 2008.
In the midfield, Tottenham duo Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas have been called up, with teammate Aaron Lennon and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard injured. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

Brazil coach Dunga selected FC Porto striker Hulk on Tuesday for next month's friendlies against England and Oman.
Other new players called up for the team's final matches of the year include Lyon's Michel Bastos, Liverpool's Fabio Aurelio and Hoffenheim's Carlos Eduardo.
Manchester City forward Robinho returns to the squad after recovering from an ankle injury. Also on the list were Real Madrid playmaker Kaka, Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar and Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano.
Brazil will play England on Nov. 14 in Doha and Oman three days later in Muscat.
Dunga did not select players from clubs participating in the Brazilian league, leaving strikers Adriano and Ronaldo off the squad. Juventus playmaker Diego and AC Milan duo Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato also were not selected.
Hulk, whose real name is Givanildo Vieira de Souza, has been a key player for Porto since he joined the Portuguese club in 2008. He played briefly for Brazilian club Vitoria before spending three seasons in Japanese football.
"We've been looking at his performance in the Portuguese league and the Champions League, and now there is an opportunity to see him from up close," Dunga said.
The coach said he summoned several new players because "a lot can still happen" until the 2010 World Cup.
"We have to look at players with different characteristics because we can always change the way we play," Dunga said.
Brazil was first in the South American qualifying group for the tournament in South Africa. The Brazilians will be seeking their sixth world title. | | | | | Registered Member

Add also add John Terry to the list of absentees in the English squad. The starters as back four, (Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Johnson) are all absent!
Add to them 2 key players and starters in the midfield (Lampard & Gerrard), and 2 promising wings (Lennon & Walcott)...
