Believe it or not, but renault and ferrari want mickeal schumakher to win the WDC title while mclaren is the only team who wants to see alonso clinching the championship.
In case you don't know, having #1 and #2 on your cars will have a great significance when it comes to chosing pit garages and it brings you about 10% extra money from sponsors.
now some might be saying 10%? pff who cares...
well NO, 10% of the sponsors in F1 is about 600 million USD...this 600 million can help the teams develope their cars, their windtunnels, their chassis and SPECIALLY engines!
Usualy top teams increase engine performance by 3% throughout the season, and they pay about 200million to do so.
This 600 million can help them increase their engine performance by 5 to 6% actually...that is equal to 1 or 2 extra tenths faster :) just by engine performance.
Now if they develope the chassis, with the rest of the money, they can grab another 4 tenths...thats MORE THEN HALF A SECOND QUICKER!

Any teams would want that money, now let's see why teams are fighting for this #1 car.

It's all because of schumakher, he's retiring this season, if he wins the title and retires...next year we wont have a #1 driver on the grid, and thats exactly what renault and ferrari wants, cz neither of them will benefit from the half a billion USD we talked about.
Now if schumy wins the title, Ferrari will have 0 and 2 on their cars!
Just like when nigel mansel won in 1992, next year, damon hill was car #0 and prost was car #2.
Therefore, If schumy wins massa will be car #0 and kimi raikonnen car #2.
And that way, nobody will benefit...

BUT if alonso wins, hes moving to mclaren ....;)
therefore, mclaren will have cars #1 and #2 and will benefit from the half a billion...
Let me remind u that bridgestones will be the only tire company supplying teams next year, so ferrari/williams/toyota will have an edge over mclaren bc they already are adopted to the bridgestones...
while mclaren needs to balance this edge, they need to invest in other areas in the car, such as engines and chassis.

So the only people who actually want alonso to win this year is Ron dennis and his mclaren mercedes team.
While renault and ferrari will be hoping that schumy will take the lead and win the championship, so that mclaren doesnt benefit much and make and gap when it comes to car performance overall in 2007...

it all started this summer when FIA banned renault's mass damper.

dear , its called world drivers championship...thats what F1 is about, constructor is secondary, anyway this is just a theory...

in 2005 mclaren had a bullet proof car, yet unreliable, therefore they lost the championship, imagine if they can build such a quick car in 2007, YET reliable! they will destroy all opposition specialyl having a back to back world champion like alonso.
Anyway, FIA banned renault's mass dampers ahead of hungarian GP, renault have been using those for 2 years and its one of the reason why the car was successfull, care to tell me why FIA banned those systems at this crucial stage of the championship? ;)

Dear amigo, i'm not a member of the FIA council to know why they banned the mass dampers, yet schumy winning the 3 races you mentioned have nothing to do with it.
anyway, mclaren will obviously get #1 next year, alonso won the title and mclaren will flourish with the money alonso will bring with him to the team, and will surely invest and develope next year's car to the maximum.

i never said FIA btestafid man, yet i said it started to become clearer when they banned the renault system.
Such theories in F1 exist since lauda days, and the one to recall was in 1994 when benetton had an illegal traction control system and everybody knew about it yet FIA didnt ban it, because williams was the richest team with the best wind tunnel, therefore they allowed renault to run it in order to bring balance to the title and thats what happened.

btw alonso next year at mclaren will be #1 and his teammate #2!!! not #4 nor #6! read the f1 rules.
