Good move, I think he still got what it takes to play in major leagues, and the calcio would fit him well. This would also increase his chances to stay in the national team.

Ferguson backing for Beckham's Milan move
October 24, 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is not surprised David Beckham could be on his way back to Europe.

Beckham is close to signing a short-term loan contract with AC Milan, with former Los Angeles Galaxy coach Ruud Gullit among those who think the England star will eventually stay at the San Siro on a permanent basis.

The move is motivated by Beckham's desire to remain in the England squad for forthcoming friendlies against Germany and, probably, Spain, which would enable him to break Bobby Moore's record number of caps for an outfield player.
However, Ferguson can see the advantages of abandoning the lucrative contract Beckham has with the Galaxy and moving to Italy.

''It is hardly a surprise,'' said Ferguson, who sold Beckham to Real Madrid in 2003.

''Going to the United States does not get you the kind of football he is used to.

''It is not the right level of football, therefore coming back into the mainstream of the game is not a surprise.

''People have been edging towards that quite a while now.''

It is anticipated Beckham will join Milan at the beginning of January, although there is no chance of a dream meeting with United as the Serie A giants only qualified for the UEFA Cup this season.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger would gladly welcome David Beckham back to train with Arsenal if his move to AC Milan fails to come off - but will not be making a shock swoop for the Los Angeles Galaxy star.

Wenger said: "I have not been in touch with him, and certainly not as a player for the club.

"But if he wants to be fit and practise why not?

"However, we have Theo Walcott who plays in this position, Emmanuel Eboue who plays in this position so we are not looking for a right midfielder."

He is going to be another AC MILAN Ronaldo. i fail to see his role with pirlo, seedorf, gattuso, and ronaldinho in the midfield. He will be good for shirt sales nevertheless.
