Icon5 The Greatest Lebanese of all Time - 3rd January 2008

According to you, who shall be considered the Greatest Lebanese of all Time?

Britain's BBC did it with "100 Greatest Britons", l'Hexagone's state-owned France 2 aired "Le Plus Grand Français de tous les temps" and Canada's CBC broadcasted the "100 Greatest Canadian of all Time".

Although I am no programmer of LBC, FTV or OTV among others, I think that the forums are a good place to ask this very important trivia.

When someone ask you this question, who comes first in your mind?

Is it Fairouz, Khalil Gibran, Camille Chamoun, Ziad Rahbani, or Fakhreddin II?

Or is it Salim Lawzi, Ryad Solh, Ghassan Tueni?

Or is it someone I can't think of now to list?...

Yalla, fill in with names with a Top 10 if you wish, or choose one...or what have you...and tell us why you think this person is the Greatest Lebanese of all Time!

Let the show begin...

Ali Arz

I don't know why, but ever since I can remember, I've always equalled Fairouz with Lebanon. I guess that means something.

Few are those who really understood this country. We are bound to listen to them for they have invested their lives in understanding what we call a "country".

Gibran Khalil is #1 to me because he served Lebanon and the world by leaving a huge impact to civilization. He is one of the most studied personality in international history.

It is interesting to note that no one understood Lebanon better then him, that is why his works are more relevant to us today then they were in his time.

I would like to close mine with the following Gibran quote...

Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country!
