I am not armenian and not even christian and I feel hurted from reading you. So I guess the feeling of the lebanese armenians who read you and the image you give them about our Great and Glorious National Resistance that you pretend defend...

Finally, I ask you once more that nobody spoke about Armenia and Azerbaidjan. So please don't import to lebanon the conflict between these two beloved countries.

Hassan, do me a favour, and stop replying to my posts. You write offensive remarks and question my belonging, and then conclude it with "regards', well keep those regards of yours to yourself, and keep your words too. I am beginning to get really annoyed by your off-the-belt personal remarks, if you have an issue please raise it in private, or else you are the one who is giving a bad image of the RESISTANCE (and saying "glorious naitonal resistance" as you always do does not make you any more supportive of the resistance than me, so quit hiding behind words) by spreading the image of one who does not welcome discussions and spreads fear that discussing something will lead to conflict. THIS is fascist rhetoric. This is exactly what the so-called "march 14" are about, they engage in scare tactics to prevent discussion, because discussion would set the stage for a deeper understanding of the "other", and they do NOT want that. So you can go on saying "great national resistance" but that will not change the fact that it is YOU who has internalized the rhetoric of "march 14".

Excellent post. What AlGhaliboon is afraid of is that the Palestinians in Lebanon will say the same thing. After all, there is similarity in the way the Armenians and Palestinians came to to live in Lebanon. And once the Palestinians start speaking and thinking like you, what reason would there be not to naturalize them? That is the real issue behind this discussion.

Yes a big massacre against innocent armenians, women and children, really happened at the fall of the ottoman empire but we should avoid historical generalization ,the armenians during the ottoman era and this is ,until young turks pan turkish policy, they were not persecuted and even occupied high level posts in the ottoman administration. It must be known that the young turks were supported by many armenians some years before the massacres.

turkey is like borats kazakhistan . i do know some turkish and watch their news , most of it is abt local fights , this killed that and so on , dont be fooled with some of what you see in the modern part of istambul or ankara , or the touristic compounds , outside is the old ottoman empire , with poverty and wife beating men.

Can we please get a clear definition as to what the purpose of this thread is?

Is it about the Armenian Genocide that everyone agrees it occured except the half of U.S congress and Turkey?
Is it about the Glorius nation of Turkey?
Is it about the Lebanese Armenians?
Is it about Armenia and Azers?
Is it about Armenian Cuisine?

Because we seem to be all over the place with this thread?

It is about 'moderate Islamism' in Turkey, and modern-day Turkey's place in regional and world affairs. It is neither a glorification nor a demonization thread; from what I understood, it just aimed at starting a discussion on the issue of Islamism and how (or if??) it can (possibly) be reconciled with the west.

I did not say modern Islamism, I said moderate Islamism. Anyway I do not consider these people to be Muslims at all, and have serious issues with those who claim Turkey is the model of "successful" Islamism....

Anyway, disparities in developments of regions is present in all countries, as is extremism, etc., perhaps you should also look inwards, because you might be surprised sometimes at how many things you did not know about 'yourself'... :) By the way, are you saying that those people are "extremist Muslims"? How do you define extremist Muslims? Do you consider me one, for example?!? I guess you should distinguish between ultra-nationalism/fascism and religious fanaticism. :)
