"Israel backs Georgia in Caspian Oil Pipeline Battle with Russia
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
...
Last year, the Georgian president commissioned from private Israeli security firms several hundred military advisers, estimated at up to 1,000, to train the Georgian armed forces in commando, air, sea, armored and artillery combat tactics. They also offer instruction on military intelligence and security for the central regime. Tbilisi also purchased weapons, intelligence and electronic warfare systems from Israel.
These advisers were undoubtedly deeply involved in the Georgian army’s preparations to conquer the South Ossetian capital Friday.
In recent weeks, Moscow has repeatedly demanded that Jerusalem halt its military assistance to Georgia, finally threatening a crisis in bilateral relations. Israel responded by saying that the only assistance rendered Tbilisi was “defensive.”
This has not gone down well in the Kremlin. Therefore, as the military crisis intensifies in South Ossetia, Moscow may be expected to punish Israel for its intervention." DEBKAfile - Israel backs Georgia in Caspian Oil Pipeline Battle with Russia

Slideshow: Pictures of the week The situation in South Ossetia is widely believed to be one of the topics of discussion over the weekend in Beijing between President Shimon Peres and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
That meeting took place prior to Putin leaving China and flying to southern Russia to apparently oversee the situation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in what is thought to have been an indirect reference to Israel, lashed out against Georgia's Western allies.

"Those who have been supplying arms to Georgia, they should feel part of the blame for the loss of life," The New York Times quoted Lavrov as saying. He also was quoted as saying that foreign leaders "who have been appeasing Mr. [Georgian President Mikhail] Saakashvili's intentions, and helped create the feeling of impunity inside the Georgian [leader], should think twice about whether this is right."
Israeli diplomatic officials said Lavrov's comments were aimed at the US, Ukraine and Israel, which all have supplied Georgia with arms.
Ma'ariv, in an investigative report on Friday that diplomatic officials said was "highly accurate," said Israeli companies had sold some $300 million worth of military equipment to Georgia.
According to the report, Israeli defense officials were embarrassed in April when an Israeli-manufactured drone was shot down by the Russians, and again in May when another drone, and a state-of-the-art Israeli rocket system called Lynx, were on display at a Georgian military parade.
The Ma'ariv report said former government minister and Tel Aviv mayor Roni Milo was heavily involved in arms sales to Georgia, as a representative of Elbit and the Israeli Military Industries, and that Brig.-Gen (res.) Gal Hirsch, one of the senior officers who left the IDF after coming under blistering criticism following the Second Lebanon War, was heavily involved in the country in providing training for infantry and elite units.
According to the Ma'ariv story, the Russians sent a letter to Livni asking Israel to refrain from selling state-of-the-art weaponry to Georgia, and stating that Moscow had acceded to similar requests by Jerusalem in the past.
Israel has repeatedly asked Russia not to sell top-line weapons systems to Syria and Iran. According to the report, the Defense Ministry, which at first was hesitant - hoping to parley this into leverage to keep the Russians from selling weaponry to Iran or Syria - then acceded to the Foreign Ministry's request.
Israel, according to diplomatic officials, now only sells defensive weapons to Georgia.
In light of the escalating situation in Georgia, the Foreign Ministry issued an advisory against travel to the area, and has called on Israelis already there to contact the embassy in Tbilisi, or the situation room at the Foreign Ministry, to let them know their whereabouts. The Foreign Ministry also decided to send reinforcements to the embassy there to deal with the situation.
In recent years, Georgia has become a popular destination for Israeli trekkers. Coincidentally, Israel's new envoy to Georgia, Yitzhak Gerberg, was scheduled to leave for his new post on Saturday. Despite the situation on the ground, he left as scheduled

WASHINGTON - Russia's use of overwhelming military force against Georgia, including strategic bombers and ballistic missiles, is disproportionate to any threat from the former Soviet state and could escalate tensions in the volatile region, a senior U.S. official said Saturday
The Bush administration official, who briefed reporters on condition his name not be used because of the sensitive nature of the situation, said Russia has attacked areas in Georgia that are far away from the separatist province of South Ossetia, where the fighting has centered. The official also said the Russian military is striking civilian targets.
"They have employed strategic bombers — the most potent air weaponry that is in the Russian arsenal .... They actually launched ballistic missile attacks on Georgian territory," the official said. He also said Russia has sent more than 1,000 paratroopers and armor into the region.
Russian bombing has also taken place in Abkhazia, a separate breakaway region of Georgia, far from South Ossetia, the official said.
"This is a dangerous escalation in the crisis," the official said. Russia's military response "marks a severe escalation and is being conducted in areas far, far from the South Ossetia zone of conflict, which is where the Russian side has said it needed to protect its citizens and peacekeepers. So the response has been far disproportionate to whatever threat Russia had been citing."
The U.S. official also scolded Moscow for stymieing attempts at mediation and refusing a cease-fire offer from Georgia.
"The Georgians have offered a cease-fire. The response by the Russians has been to step up the attacks, continue bombing civilians with strategic air assets and then to reject the notion of any international mediation at all — it's very difficult for us to understand that," the official said. "It is simply not acceptable that anyone would reject an offer of a cease-fire and a plea for international mediation."
The official criticized Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin for suggesting Georgia was conducting "genocide" in South Ossetia.
"Those are some pretty powerful words that are really not helping us to end the violence and bring together a new process that can resolve the conflict," the official said. "The line we're hearing right now (from Russia) is quite tough."
President Bush, in Beijing for the Olympics, spoke with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Saturday.
"The violence is endangering regional peace, civilian lives have been lost and others are endangered. We have urged an immediate halt to the violence and a stand-down by all troops. We call for an end to the Russian bombings," a grim Bush told reporters. He did not take any questions.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice talked with several European counterparts and planned to meet with the Russia's acting ambassador.
John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, said he had spoken with Georgia President Mikhail Saakashvili late Saturday.
McCain called Russia's actions "totally, absolutely unacceptable" and said Bush should "should talk to the American people and talk to the world."
"I would be very direct with President Putin that these actions will have consequences long term, in terms of our relationship with Russia, and it is in violation of the norms of international conduct," he said in an interview with The Associated Press in Las Vegas.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said he had talked with Rice and Saakashvili to condemn Russia's recent actions. He said top diplomats from the U.S., the European Union and the United Nations should become directly involved in mediating the military conflict.
"A genuinely neutral mediator — not the Russian government — must begin a process of negotiations immediately," Obama said in a statement.
Families and dependents of U.S. Embassy personnel in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, were expected to receive permission to evacuate.
The U.S. official suggested Russia was looking for a way to draw Georgia into a conflict because Moscow wants to keep Georgia out of NATO.
Georgia, which borders the Black Sea between Turkey and Russia, was ruled by Moscow for most of the two centuries preceding the breakup of the Soviet Union. Georgia angered Russia by seeking NATO membership — a bid Moscow regards as part of a Western effort to weaken its influence in the region.
Russia wants to "keep Georgia kind of weak and off balance and to make it hard for Georgia to join NATO," the official said.
However, he said the United States and its NATO allies will not be drawn militarily into the Russian-Georgian conflict.
"This is a very localized conflict ... There is not a danger of a regional conflict at all in our minds," the official said.
Georgia has about 2,000 troops in Iraq and is the third-largest contributor to coalition forces after the U.S. and Britain. The Georgian government has called home those troops, and efforts are under way now to determine how the U.S. will transport those troops to Georgia, the official said.
The reason behind the Georgian conflict... read below. Which reminds me of a conflict and war that occurred in our country... same method, media and financiers
THE GEORGIAN “ROSE REVOLUTION” was funded by the Hungarian born Jewish financier, George Soros. The Rose Revolution forced President Eduard Shevardnadze out of office on November 23 2003 (St George’s Day in Georgia).
Soros installed Shevardnadze’s young protege, Mikhail Saakashvili, as the new and current President of Georgia. During the three months before the coup, Saakashvili, who was schooled & groomed in America, was glorying in lavish treatment from the Zionist led US State Department and the Jewish controlled media. And in the previous summer Soros had flown Saakashvili and his followers to a “revolution training seminar” in Belgrade Serbia.
Back in Georgia from his training by Soros in Belgrade, Saakashvili led thousands of demonstrators brandishing fresh red roses in their takeover of the President’s palace. This occurred in the freezing Georgian winter when fresh roses had to be flown in — courtesy of the Jew, George Soros, who had spent $42 million on his new Georgian puppet. No sooner had Saakashvili taken office that he vowed to bring the Russian supported South Ossetia & Abkhazia breakaway provinces back under Georgian control.
Soros and the US State Department, indeed, had publicly committed themselves to propping up the current anti-Russian Georgian President, Mikhail Saakashvili, considered by many to be an authoritarian thug. A confrontation between Russia and the US was now in the works. And it has come to a head with the recent conflagration in South Ossetia.
A BOILING HOT GEORGIAN COLD WAR
AMERICA’S PRO GEORGIAN POLICY is explained by Georgia’s access to the Caspian Sea’s oil wealth. The US backed British Petroleum (BP) pipeline, running from the Caspian Sea through Georgia, then below the Black Sea into Turkey, delivers oil to Europe and the US. The US & its European allies have been competing with Russia for control of the Caspian oil rich region.
The pipeline runs only 60 miles south of the South Ossetian capital, Tskhinvali, which sits right smack in the middle of northern Georgia. South Ossetia broke away from Georgia in the early 1990s and exists as an independent state with full Russian support. Most South Ossetian residents hold Russian passports.
The US considers Georgia as an ally and supports its desire to join NATO and the EU. Moscow opposes both goals. Georgia’s pro Western stance has riled Russia because Moscow regards the entire region as its own sphere of influence.
In April 2002, the US started the “Georgia Train and Equip Program” which involved US training of Georgian forces. Soon after, Georgian militaries were sent to Iraq to form part of the US/UK occupation forces there. With regard to the current South Ossetia conflict, the US has been supplying Georgia with both equipment and military advisers. And Russia is now accusing the US of orchestrating the war.
Moreover, the US partner in Zionist international hegemony, the State of Israel, assisted Georgia in its August 8 2008 attack on the South Ossetian capital, Tskhinvali, with a bevy of its own military advisers. This brought the conflict to a military climax.
Thus, Georgia will continue to be a cold war hotspot with Russia and the US competing to control the Caspian oil bonanza. And the Jew, George Soros, and his puppet, Mikhail Saakashvili, have brought this new cold war centered in Georgia to a boiling head.
The Georgians should do what Russia is doing in Abkhazia and South ossetia to Georgia,
They should just open passage to Chechnya, Just turn a blind eye, It will take care of itself. Russians are fragile. Very similar to the Israeli's, They can not sustain a long guerrilla war.
The Georgians can't take the Russian's on in a conventional war. Why try,
